NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Moved from 186 to 182 in the queue today for the 5090 Astral - splendid.

Gonna be a long wait…
Moved up another place today so now sitting at 120 , as long as they ship enough units over then hopefully the numbers will drop quickly once stock arrives but if they just send 10 a time then we are in for a long wait

MSI Gaming Trio OC just showed up as in stock on OCUK for £2798, whacked it in my basket then realise it was £300 cheaper elsewhere (when i stock) and decided to wait, its now showing as out of stock on OCUK

3 grand for a gamer GPU, jesus christ, its not even a top tier card

very high price for a trio.

seen that even cheaper still today and it's still over priced

Really don't understand why people are getting so excited over these cards. I'd normally be a natural 5090 punter, but sticking with my 4090FE until team green release a flagship on a smaller node.
Since getting back into gaming I've gone: Titan X (Maxwell) > Titan XP > 2080ti > 3090 > 4090. Kinda glad the 5090 was meh, means I get to skip all this nonsense for once.

Your card is probably on the conveyer belt as we speak. This video shows their state of the art factory, where "manpower is reduced by 50%".

"An MSI graphics card is produced every 2 seconds" - gives me hope
haha I hope so!!

Didn't you just answer your own question, you have a 4090 FE.

I think a lot of us wish we'd have gotten a 4090 before, but hindsight is 20/20.

I think realistically there isn't a super amount of excitement anyway as much as there's so little stock that a certain subset are willing to pay over the odds.

i don't get it either. The needle on price/perfornance has actually gone backwards and the performance is nothing to write home about. That, and prices are currently robbery level.

Pretty much answered your own question lol. Plus I would imagine the most excited are people on older 2 or 3 gen cards.

Just don't repeat the same thing when 6090 comes - we can already predict it will be even more expensive and likely still relatively small gains. :) There's no incentive for NVIDIA to do any better anymore, they're market leader, a monopoly, they can do like Intel did for years to come (only small gains each generation, raise prices by that too) and they can get away with it in high-end.

Im on a 3080 so yeah im pretty excited for the 5090 gains. After the 3080 launch i was thinking the 5090 would have less purchasers due to the price....i was wrong

Yeah ditto, it'll be huge for those of us still on a 3080.

I think we're competing with people who just need the latest and greatest though.

Every 2 gens i feel is acceptable to upgrade if your unhappy with current performance. I think id still be pretty happy with my 3080 if it wasent for unreal 5 tbh. Game looks 10% better but needs 40% more gpu grunt

I'm still not convinced on what this rating actually means, as it seams that some are interpreting a low score (5/10) as bad, yet others have said that is good. The wording around it on the site is pretty generic and doesn't offer many clues either.

So is 5/10 'better' i.e. less coil whine than 8/10, or is it worse because it is a 'rating' of lack of coil whine. Answers on a postcard.....
Like others pointed out, it's mainly down to personal tolerance. It's very rare in my case that I coil whine bothers me, because my system has 30 fans and 3 pumps, and those gonna be more noticeable when gaming on a hot summer day (30 fans at 2000 RPM laugh at any GPU coil whine lol). Yet, I am focused on the game, plus I often play music simultaneously.

I see even media take now ocuk stock info as news, especially the up to 16 weeks of wait for 5090 delivery... Ouch, this is not different from pandemic shortages, but even higher prices. :/
