NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I've got an Asus tuf 5080 OC coming tomorrow. Anyone got any feelings on if I should return it given the 9070XT is going to be ~£500 cheaper?

Different performance level I know, but that's a significant chunk of change

Is the 10-15% increase in performance worth £500 to you?

Ray tracing might be more like 20-25% better.

It's a lot of money for not much more performance really..

Didn't you get a partial refund? I know obviously they should replace your card, but you've already gotten some money back I'd just sit tight and wait, or return it for a full refund and buy something else.

Oh… right.

Yeah… partial refund for a defect and then also expecting/demanding a replacement that removes the defect entirely would be a lovely outcome to benefit from, but it is a bit cheeky on the whole if you think about it.

I suppose it depends on what the retailer said you could do when you accepted the partial refund.

Oiginaly i was given a partial refund for the hassle and told MSI would deal with warranty repair / repalcement. MSI eventually agreed to repair/replace (in writing) but then went back on it saying they had no stock for replacements (even though stock been dropping today). Store i purchased from is now giving me the rest of my money back but have allowed me to hang on to the card a little longer so i have a chance of getting a new card myself. For those who did not know, i was missing ROPS

The concensus is the 9070xt is a better value in the extreme sense. Not sure what you paid for that 5080, but guessing it was £1200, and a decent 9070xt will be £700 retail, you paid 42% more for 10-12% more performance. It's not really a different performance level, that's a bit in your head since the cost is so inflated.

If it was me, I know what I'd do.

Limp showing again for the barcode store.

90 class, PNY and Aorus Waterforce. That's it!

80 class they've had Trio, Suprim liquid, Giga Windforce and Waterforce.

Do you have many they received of the 90 class? The waterforces have popping up last week or so on reddit

It does seem that conspiracy story of them not ordering stock to avoid the price rises is gaining credibility, honestly, they're the dodgiest out of the bunch tbh, like if they were scalping, fine whatever it makes somewhat sense, but these guys coming up with some bs program with their "trasparancy" that you can't even verify or know wtf is going on behind the scenes.

I have no idea on quantities, it's just what they post on their daily 50series page update at 17:30. Since all their 90class queues are full no alerts will go out as they're fulfilling preorders.

I'm a bit out of it when it comes to graphics cards now, I remember when the GTX Titan came out at £1000 and that was considered a massive amount of money. Even considering inflation, it's crazy seeing the 5070Ti for more than that.

but after 10 years of inflation and the weakening pound and the rich getin way richer, today £1000 is considered nothing, its like £300 10 years ago and £150 20 years ago, a bit like when I hardly saw £50 notes, im talking the old big ones from the 90s

I dropped 6 places in the 5090 suprim liquid queue (now 67) so feel they got some of those even though not stated on the status page. 6 cancellations in one day would be unusual.

Never again for the barcode store. A full month and theve recieved 4 count em 4 5090 air supremes. Estimated dispatch date is from monday for 2nd in the queue but i dont believe it one second tbh

So the basic Palit 5090 arrived today, sounds like a bunch of us got the OC drop yesterday and would have received it today. Have set it up, cranked it up, and all in all it's pretty solid. It needs a custom fan curve as otherwise it throttles even within a 2 minute benchmark, but with a custom fan curve it can take +200/+2000 and is about 31% faster than my MSI Trio 4090. But it's seriously loud. So having paid £2,600 for it, I'm now thinking I really would rather have the MSI Suprim - the TechPowerUp comparison of frequencies, temps and noise has it way out ahead. What do you reckon the best approach for that is - hope one drops in the next 1-2 weeks so I can buy and return this one? Can I even buy another one from OC now that I've got one? Or risk waiting outside of the return window and selling the Palit on ebay once I get the Suprim? If anyone is thinking something similar would be interested to hear.

Big oof. £2600 and it needs a steeper, louder fan curve just to avoid throttling.

I would not be selling one of these on auction site now as very high risk of return or scam.

I'd either learn to live with it or return it.
