NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

So the basic Palit 5090 arrived today, sounds like a bunch of us got the OC drop yesterday and would have received it today. Have set it up, cranked it up, and all in all it's pretty solid. It needs a custom fan curve as otherwise it throttles even within a 2 minute benchmark, but with a custom fan curve it can take +200/+2000 and is about 31% faster than my MSI Trio 4090. But it's seriously loud. So having paid £2,600 for it, I'm now thinking I really would rather have the MSI Suprim - the TechPowerUp comparison of frequencies, temps and noise has it way out ahead. What do you reckon the best approach for that is - hope one drops in the next 1-2 weeks so I can buy and return this one? Can I even buy another one from OC now that I've got one? Or risk waiting outside of the return window and selling the Palit on ebay once I get the Suprim? If anyone is thinking something similar would be interested to hear.
What temps do you aim to achieve? I personally aim to get 75-80 degrees on my card and then keep the fan constant is it still loud at that point? It seems like you're not satisfied, I'd just return it and then wait for another drop in the future for the card you want (Suprim)

Also the case you are using? fans/airflow?

I didn't get ropped :D

Expectedly, my colleague hasn't budged in Zotac Solid queue. I think that one's a lost cause at this point.
I think it is the cheapest card as gibbo said it is EOL as they are losing money on each card made. New Solid Core will be out with no eta. It is unlikely that in the future the any Zotac solid queue will be fulfilled in the competitor. Gibbo said Solid OC is coming but not solid.

So it's people like you that are buying the bargain basic 5090s for £2,600. Damn, didn't think i'd bump into any here. Return it, wait for stock to increase, and buy a better AIB card. I couldn't look myself in the mirror if i paid so much over the card's MSRP for one of the least appealing and likely worst performing 5090s.

Interesting regarding a new Solid Core card. Not heard that anywhere. It is not surprising that Zotac is pumping the dies into the Solid OC variant. All the AIB partners do that as it is free additional money for them.

I really like how Sapphire Nitro + 9070XT is teaching Nvidia how to deal with 12-2x6 pin. Yep you heard it, Sapphire Nitro + 9070XT with 12-2x6 pin fully hidden away with active cooling on cables. Nicely done
I am going for it this time.
XFX white card looks amazing. which one should I get? Sapphire Nitro + or XFX white

Oh… right.

Yeah… partial refund for a defect and then also expecting/demanding a replacement that removes the defect entirely would be a lovely outcome to benefit from, but it is a bit cheeky on the whole if you think about it.

I suppose it depends on what the retailer said you could do when you accepted the partial refund.
The retailer offered a partial refundstating my warranty would not be affected, i did not ask for this. They done it as a curtosy for the hassle. Retailer stated the refund was a deal between me )a loyal customr) and them and had nothing to do with MSI or my warranty. MSI then agreed to honor teh repair or replace only to go back on it 2 days later because they claim to have had no stock for replacements even though there have been drops today

Is the Palit that loud? I run a custom.curve on all of my cards. I read it very good for having little coil whine or none. I got my suprim today and even though i run a custom curve I dont find it particularly loud. It does run very cool though. But is on an open testbench for the time being sonthat will affect the temps a bit.

I also run mine at 90% power limit until i guage the right sweet spot for it. But i am sure it will be somwhere around the 85% if my 5080 testing is anything to go by.

I think OCUK checks all the 5090s b4 they send them out, to check the ROPS, coz I received my box today and the seal was opened and GPU weight bracket missing, not that I mind, I'm happy that I got my 5090

Plus no Haribos, this time around, theyve run out or the packer forgot

I can see 178 ROPS

Techpowerup has a good comparison across a range of 5090s reviewed. I'd say it is the worst AIB card reviewed so far. It is not worth a penny over £2k imo, and certainly not £2.6k :p

The MSI Suprim and Gigabyte Master seem to be two of the best so far.

Glad you've not been ROPPED, but having something missing after paying >£2k.... Reach out to OCUK support and make them send it to you. Always nice to have all the bits and pieces when you come to sell a used GPU.

It was probably the DPD man that opened it and decided not to rob it when he saw it was a Palit

If you're referring to the data table of the card roundup, a lot of the data is wrong (especially on the boost clock speeds)

I've always tended to avoid the smaller brands such as Palit, Gainward, PNY, etc. After my 3070 ventus from MSI, I never want another MSI product again. I'm sure the higher end cards are fine but I've had so many issues with this one, and their support is horrendous. Trying zotac this year round as they seem promising.

I'd be surprised if they did that, that's not cool!

I'm fairly new here, whats the lore behind the whole haribo stuff? Is this just something that theyve always done?
