NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Folks, do you take much of a hit money wise returning 5090 to OC after it has been in the system? I see it says 30 days but they may reduce refund.
Cheers.

Okay so the shop rang me today and they can only hold the palit for one day. I can gr a gigabyte wind force OC edition for slightly more, guessing that worth it over the palit?

Wouldnt think there is much between all the bottom tier models from all manufacturers. Certainly not worth paying more imo. I got the Palit yesterday, its 'fine', no coil whine I can here. But I'm feeling underwhelmed, which isnt good for 2.5k. So likely returning it and trying for a top tier later.
Hands up- FOMO.

I've also seen a Zotac amp extreme I'm guessing that would be the one to go for over the palit and gigabyte wind force

How ,jcj more? Bearing in mind Gigabyte has a UK based RMA centre and in my experience, was very good.

So many posts of buying ‘cheap’ lower models and being underwhelmed. For cards that aren’t cheap.

Guys, accept it’ll be rough around the edges or just wait for a card you actually want.

Re: Gigabyte basic vs. Palit, I’m pretty sure there have been a couple of posts here on the Palit being so-so, based on that I’d go for the gigabyte (but have a look for reviews / feedback to sense check it).

Meanwhile, I’m still sat in the motionless Suprim queue. It is a little curious that the ‘queue retailer’ lists almost all AIB makers as ‘trusted suppliers…’ aside from MSI. What on earth does that mean… maybe MSI just tells them “you’ll get what arrives” whereas the others say “you’ll get this stock in a few days.”

Who knows!

Don’t say they didn’t warn you

Yeah this is the feeling I have too. Underwhelmed. It's "fine". But I'm not sure I want to go back to the 4090, as ultimately the fps is definitely up. Would just rather have spent the £2.6k on an MSI Trio or even a bit more on a Suprim. But it's been months and no stock, so seems like it'll be many weeks more before a better one at reasonable prices.

Fortunately, I still have my 4090...

Yeah just over a month and pretty much all the movement in the Suprim queues has been cancellations. The litmus test for any conspiracy theories will be if this place gets a whole bunch of MSI cards in and they get nowt.

Guess we'll see shortly if there is parity because OCUK are supposedly receiving a 'wave' of astrals that will clear the preorders. If they get dust then something is wonky

Forgive me if I'm wrong but don't PNY manufacturer all or most of Nvidia's quadro cards?
I had an old gainward phantom years ago, think it was a gtx 470 or 570 if I recall correctly. Good build quality but very loud.
Got my first Palit on pre-order as we speak so will see what that is like when it arrives
Possibly, I know PNY is still quite a big brand especially in other categories, and I'm sure they're one of the better ones out of the less popular gpu manufacturers. Maybe it's just their designs that put me off the cards.

I've always had great experiences with gigabyte so they'll always be my go to, but they are getting pretty overpriced for the features offered recently, especially motherboards. Zotac are looking promising this year with good value and great build quality.

Didn't know they had a UK based rma center! I've only had good experiences with them and all their products have never had any issues for me. They do charge a decent premium for some products relative to their features, but I guess you get what you pay for in customer support and peace of mind.

If you're planning to waterblock, but are having buyers remorse at 2.5k, and will look to buy a high tier model which right now is almost certain to be overpriced. Wouldn't it make sense to wait until you can get it at 2150. The only real reason to buy the top sku's is they run quieter and looks. If you're watercooling these factors are redundant.

I managed to grab a Palit GamingPro 5080 for £1,127.99 from the rainforest.

If it’s a keeper, I will cancel my preorder for the same card.

Oiginaly i was given a partial refund for the hassle and told MSI would deal with warranty repair / repalcement. MSI eventually agreed to repair/replace (in writing) but then went back on it saying they had no stock for replacements (even though stock been dropping today). Store i purchased from is now giving me the rest of my money back but have allowed me to hang on to the card a little longer so i have a chance of getting a new card myself. For those who did not know, i was missing ROPS
If you got a partial refund with option of keeping the card, and now the new cards landing are £800 more than the price you paid, I'd just take the partial refund and be done with it...the difference in performance is not massive..the 5090 is still way faster than anything else, with the slight rops drop. Alternatively, as new cards are £800 more, you could probably sell it for what you paid for it, keeping the refund difference for yourself. If there's a choice of buying the card for £3300 with full ROP or £2500 with 8 rops missing, think someone will take the plunge. It'll probably be a collectors item years down the line
I mean, ideally they just replace your card at zero cost difference, but if that's off the table, the above is probably best bet if you don't want to keep the card
