NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

I think the 24Gb 5080 super might be coming earlier than people expect. I've had over 50 stock alerts for 5080 FEs over the weekend and as we know Nvidia only do stuff for their own benefit. I think they might be clearing stock...either that or no-one is buying the 5080...

It's this, very much this.

The 5080 hasn't really gone out of stock since launch, it's a pretty hard sell for a card that is marginally better than a 4080S but with no improvements to VRAM etc.

I imagine this would be amazing if it hasn’t got horrible coil whine. Worth checking if I was in the market.
I thought the coil whine on these was OK, not silent and a few 'crickets' at times. Performance and cooling was excellent, but the pump noise on idle system was more annoying, changed tone up and down constantly etc, and for 3.2 K at the time, I wasn't keeping that. At 2K, probably just live with it lol! Debaur has a video that you can hear this on.
Really liked the card otherwise, but changed to an Aorus Waterforce.

So now we know whose card we will be getting!

Spending around £2000 or so on a GPU to play games.......has to be a personal choice.

Sending it back. Didn’t even open the box. I’ve been down this road before, buying a 4090 and many other high end cards. I always feel like I’ve been duped a bit. The feeling of having the best wears off fast, especially when I know I can get a very good experience for a third of the price (ish).

I would buy a 5080 if it were 24GB and a grand. Probably going to buy a 9070XT and be done with it. Was going to order one tonight but the nitro seems to have gone up in price in 24 hours just my luck.

I often end up feeling this way, when my most played game for the week could easily run on a midrange gpu I could have for £500 or less and would even run on much cheaper gpu's

but then the heavy hitters in my library I go back to, demand every ounce of performance and I'm glad I have it ready to go.

Changed my mind on the 4090 6-8 months in for the same reason and switched to a 7900xtx :) so win for your wallet and if the games you want to play don't need more perfect decision.

I'm actually considering the same thing. Mine's also sitting unopened although a small percentage of that is because it's too damn hot to be doing bench runs to UV it. I'm guessing the cost of postage to return isn't too high right?

You'd think a card that went from £2.8 to £2.7 to £2.6 to £2.5 and then back up to £2.7 wouldn't still be considered discounted. It started at £2.8 but went up from £2.5 again. We know GPU's fluctuate but that seems misleading.

It's misleading - but it's not uncommon.

The argument they'd be making is that each of those lower prices were further sales - but the original price is still £2.8k and so anything below that is still 'discounted'. We see it happening a lot on varying selling channels so that particular vendors products always appear as 'on sale' so they get listing priority.

£20 if you let them handle it. I spent hours deliberating but it’s going back now. Firstly I know for a fact that I won’t be happy with the noise of a 5090 FE, it just looks loud and I am really sensitive to noise. A 9070XT looks really competitive with a 5070Ti now with latest driver updates, and at roughly a third of the price I think it makes a lot of sense. I just KNOW I will kick myself for having such an expensive card in my system. I just have a feeling the 60 series is going to be a considerable jump over the 50 and I’m not sure the 5090 will age quite as well as the 4090 did in comparison. Who knows could be wrong. 9070XT is also significantly quieter (obviously as it’s not a fair comparison).

That's less for return postage than I was guessing it would be. I was ready to go £50+ since I've not made use of the 14 day cooldown period in years, especially for something this expensive. Thanks for the info.
