NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Accidentally ended up with 3 4090s last launch because my clicking on all different sites was too good.

I am going to wait a week after launch this time and see how everyone is getting on with frame gen which is the only difference to my 4090. I need to see a 50 game raster benchmark. I don't ever use frame gen on the 4090 as I hate what it does to text when you move the camera. Avatar is the only acceptable game with it so far as it excludes portions of the screen used for text but that creates a blurry area in each segment with text which also looks horrible to me. I love crisp DLAA in games as much as I can and feel the DLSS4 parts that I would use are going to be available on my 4090. I think I might actually be convinced not to upgrade this time even though the money is there.

Sounds like what I'll be doing for this launch.

As for frame gen - If you're not targeting a healthy base fps, you're adding more latency and noise to the outputs, for example all those issues pointed out in the CP2077 videos, if they're still present from a very good base frame rate, I'd be massively disappointed with the technology. I'm striving for a base fps of 160-240 to hit 480 :) will be fun to test it out and pixel peep.

Unfortunately I have been quite literally pushed to get a 5090. Hear me out...

I exclusively play only league of legends more specifically the ARAM mode. Since the mode was officially intoroduced I have over 18k games in it. The way I figure if the 5090 uses MFG and only 1 frame is real and the other 3 are Ai generated that means the enemy team only has a 1 in 4 chance of killing me and nothing to do with the fact I go 1v9 as vayne or riven...not at all...

Also base 450-500 FPS blows. If Can hit like 1500-2000 FPs then surely it will make me legit in ARAM right? Amirite?

:P

An absolutely irrefutable argument!

So... What you're saying is that frame gen is akin to slowing down time?

Does anyone know what metal the gigabyte 5080 / 5090 aorus xtreme waterforce wb cold plate is made from? It needs to be copper to fit in my loop, but I have heard Gigabyte has used aluminium in the past!! That's a
deal breaker right there! The Gigabyte website does not state the material used. You would think that's necessary information.

If the prices are above +200 for partner models I'd happily just wait for the fe to come back in stock if I don't get one launch day.

Waiting on reviews but i think im gonna hard pass this time on the 5090. Even the FE model at 2k is not very enticing if the perf upgrade is only +30% over the 4090. Might get a 5080 FE for build mods but that's about it i reckon for this generation, it's just not very interesting unfortunately.

I seen article saying the 5090 was only 26 % faster than the 4090 ?
I think the improvements over the 4090 are mainly in its non-gaming capabilities (such as the added VRAM and new video encoding/decoding). I don't think it's really aimed at gamers (other than those with money to burn).

What's the best AIB these days? My current 2080ti is EVGA but since they stopped making GPUs I don't know who to go for anymore. Planning to try grab a 5090 on the 30th

I know it’s not likely to be the same as the 3000 series but the absolute shambles people had pre ordering a 3000 series card with ocuk has put me off from doing that again.

I’ll try and get an FE model 5090.

Currently have a TUF 4090 which has been great apart from a melting connector which was more the fault of the CableMod angled adaptor than the card itself so in no major rush to upgrade, although the FOMO will kick in I'm sure as we approach the 30th.
Seem to remember 30 series launch being a nightmare with customers waiting months etc, didn't really hear too many horror stories about 40 series launch though, hopefully it's a smooth process for all this time around

30 series launch was during unprecedented times iirc, fingers crossed for a reasonably smooth launch

I missed out on the pre orders for the 7900 XTX due to payment issue... fingers crossed that I do better this time!
Was it Amazon pay by any chance? I got screwed over by Amazon pay during the 4090 launch.

As far as the 5090 goes. I am looking at the Astral 5090/suprim lightning edition for my black build and an Aorus Ice 5090 for my white build. would have gotten the FE but somehow I am just not convinced that a 2 slot design even using liquid metal can dissipate 575w worth of heat without it running hot and loud. Had it been the 4090 FE chonkiness it would have been a day 1,

There's never been a best AIB. There are good and bad SKUs.

EVGA was touted as having the best customer service. I don't know of any company that's particularly good for that right now.

I’m a bit confused about the RTX 5090 listings on Overclockers UK. The pre-order thread mentions availability starting January 30th, but when I search for the cards on the site, they’re all listed as "out of stock."

Can anyone confirm if this "out of stock" status is just a placeholder for pre-orders, or if all pre-order allocations have already been taken? It seems strange, as no other major retailers (e.g., Scan or NVIDIA's website for the Founders Edition) have opened pre-orders yet.

Also, does anyone know when the Founders Edition might be listed, or if there’s a separate process for pre-ordering those?

Just place holders until they go live.

NVidia use a UK partner to order the FE cards, they’ll be available via the nVidia website but you get directed to another website to order.

I was going to say PayPal, but come to think about it was Amazon Pay.
