Toxicity breeds toxicity...I aint talking about Nvidia!
There is another.
Most of the toxicity is aimed at each othert not Nvidia, people more interested in critizing others for there choices rather then talking about the technical aspects of the cards in the technical thread. I mean who really cares what someone else buys or how much it cost them, its their business no one elsesI know, how dare a GPU enthusiast forum be full of enthusiasts having toxic opinions on a terrible GPU launch.
I aint talking about Nvidia!
No i understand your point, just emphasiing my ownThen the point went over your head
Most of the criticism is about the cards themselves, pricing and scalping. the thread is labelled technical-general-discussion. the cards come under technical while pricing and stock/availability/scalping comes under general. The people who bought the cards shouldn't take it personally and there are usually the owners threads for a more positive spin.people more interested in critizing others for there choices rather then talking about the technical aspects of the cards in the technical thread
Then again, the 5090 owner's thread has just whole 2 cards shown so far. Seems to have been all of the UK stock. The people who bought the cards shouldn't take it personally and there are usually the owners threads for a more positive spin.
Better than the 4 series is pretty subjective. Big power draw increase for very little gain. Poorest generational upgrade in recent times. Decent upgrade from 3 series doesn’t really hold up as making it a good release.Totally agree. They are better than the 4 series and a decent upgrade from the 3 series. Lack of RAM on the 5080 is shoddy though. I wouldn't upgrade if you had a 4 series
I understand what your saying there just seems to of been a lot of negativity towards forum members from both sides of the discussion, i might of had one to many tonight tho and reading to much into it in fairness plus me Kebab never showed up which does not impress me much, i was looking forward to me pizza box full of mixed kebabMost of the criticism is about the cards themselves, pricing and scalping. the thread is labelled technical-general-discussion. the cards come under technical while pricing and stock/availability/scalping comes under general. Even Nvidia's announcement graphs clearly showed the 5080 as a 10-15% improvement over the 4080 in the only like-for-like comparisons on the chart. People just didn't want to believe it or ignored it to look at the nonsense FG "comparison" bars.I think Jensens to blame for a lot of the negativity as he over hyped the cards especially the 5080 which in the charts showed 30%+ raster gains and $200 dollars less than the 4080 on the price but the gains turned into +15% and the prices were fake and ended up even higher than the 4080 launch prices in some cases.
I agree, but it is so hard to trust Nvidia's graphs and claims now a days, we have to take what they say with a pinch of salt which sucks but thats the way it is.Even Nvidia's announcement graphs clearly showed the 5080 as a 10-15% improvement over the 4080 in the only like-for-like comparisons on the chart. It's your money so you can do whatever you like with it, but I think you'd be mad to downgrade from a 4090 FE to a 5080. Just keep the 5090 pre-order ... if it's taking forever and you find you don't really need it / FOMO wears off then just cancel.Exactly, what would people say if I was seriously thinking of downgrading from the 4090 to the 5080?
I've got the 5090 on pre-order (down to 92 in the queue), but I'm seeing the 4090FE selling for approx £1700 on the bay. After postage I'd have had the 4090 for one year for free!
If I wait any longer the price could drop. It could be months until the 5090 comes in, the 5080 will be weeks at most.
Or I could just keep the 5090 pre-order and yolo the 5080 as well, then sell when the 5090 comes in...
pity because zotacs have been the quietest cards I've owned, you must have got a bad one. Didn't it have fan stop (where the fans goto 0rpm below a certain frequency)?Would have loved to be able to turn fans down, but the noise occurred at minimum fan speed for the card which was 30%
The original charts clearly show gains over 30% and were later swapped out to the realistic ones in a bait and switch.Even Nvidia's announcement graphs clearly showed the 5080 as a 10-15% improvement over the 4080 in the only like-for-like comparisons on the chart.
