NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

3 weeks since ordering my 5090 now. Starting to get second thoughts on it, and tempted to just cancel the order and spend the money on a holiday instead... Wish there was aa better update from OCUK than the one I just spotted on Twitter (while typing this) showing "RTX 5090 ETA: 2-14 Weeks".

Anyone received a Zotac 5090 from OCUK yet? I've ordered the Solid (non-OC).
Get on sunshine website and book 2 holidays. If you can't get two holidays for two grand for two adults you're doing it all wrong lol.

How much damage ?
I fluffed up and raged and did this
Oh right what did they command for this?

Ed - Oof.

Pricey, I went with this one as it was in stock >> https://www.overclockers.co.uk/msi-...-pci-express-graphics-card-gra-msi-04519.html

If you had $300-400 to spend on a new GPU what other choices were there?

The other choice was to stay strong and not give Nvidia any money for a GPU :D
Also idk how ray-tracing is even a factor at such price points when the framerates with RT are barely playable on such a tier of cards. Needed to be buying at least 4070ti for playable ray-tracing IMHO.

I'd get a refund. Not worth it.

Anyone paid more than £800 for one of these that barely catches up to a 4080... not worth that price for such a tier of GPU.
And cos these cards are selling at such prices... don't complain when the 6000 series is priced even worse than this gen.
Show that you're happy to pay extra and these companies will happily help you do just that.

What's better to go for:

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Zotac GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Solid Core 16GB GDDR7 PCI-Express Graphics Card

Both the same price? I managed to grab a MSI but if the wait for the Zotac is only 2-6 weeks then that's tempting due to it's 5 year warranty. Bit of a decision to make!

NVIDIA made the 4080, then made a mildly slower 4080, and a slightly faster 4080. Now we have a mildly faster 4080 and a slightly slower 4080!

The five 4080's:

4070 Ti Super
5070 Ti
4080
4080 Super
5080

Considering the original 4080 was the least popular, no wonder everyone is complaining when NVIDIA keep releasing more of them
If there is a 50xx in the card name, then it means you are buying a paywalled 4x frame generation app (I am convinced the 40xx series RTX could do it too). The only exception is the 5090, simply because it's the most power gaming GPU (still overpriced af).
As for the 4080 variants:

5080 = 4080 Ti Super (unreleased)
5070 Ti = repurposed 5080 die (failed core count)
4080 Super = 4080 revision (2-5% gain, should have been initial release)
4080 16GB = initial version
4080 12GB = 'unlaunched' then rereleased as 4070
4070 Ti super = repurposed 4080 die (failed core count)

This is how I look at it, these cards are close in performance to each other, and the 50xx really means it will allow you to use 4x FG.

Before we knew how disappointing this gen was I sold my old card (4070 Ti S) for the best part of £700. I did consider AMD, but the last AMD card I had shorted my motherboard and the card DOA, I've not used AMD dGPU since.

So my option is pay over double and get a 5080 (No thanks) go back to a 4000 gen (Nope) or chuck on a extra couple of hundred and suck up the extra cost of a 5070 Ti, this seemed the better option.

Exactly, the more people pay this time round, the higher the next gen release will be priced at.

Sadly, manufacturers will just keep pushing the prices ever higher until we reach a point that they see they're not shifting enough stock.

I just don't think the UK has gotten any 5090 zotac stock. I've not seen anyone get one from any where. You'd think some should finally be coming now CNY is over.

Can physx but turned off in these games?

Making games unplayable feels unacceptable but if you only lose a few middling effects then just turn it off and let it die
Normally yes, it can be turned off.
Frankly... Fallout 4 crashes if it has physics for the decals, even with older cards. No one made a big deal out of it.
