NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

One round here was caught disguising itself as a school. Plus I hear some of them can make your keyboard emit a chemical that makes you more suggestible - and smell of hammers.
I've seen one nearby smoking up a hotbox.

Also guys

Those who have pre-ordered on a credit card:

If you have a balance of £100 and an interest rate of 24.9%, you'll be charged £2.08 per month in interest, now you can work out a monthly interest on a 5090

Then times that by 3 months

Let me know how much interest that is for you on your credit card

Kids, before you "borrow" you're daddies credit card for that shiny 5090, think about this:

Even if you were to steal it and commit murder with your brick(ed) of a GPU, you still wouldn't have it paid off by the time you got out of prison.

This is more a general lesson on credit cards. Buy and get the protection and 1 month interest free then clear it.

If anyone has a 5070ti or 5080 could you please test (if you own it) Avatar Frontier's of Pandora for me?

I'm struggling to find a good video comparing its performance maxed out on those cards

I’ve just purchased a 5070Ti. My 4080 is going to my wife so I needed something comparable. MrsHB needed her PC and I need mine. Overpaid of course but bought from a an actual retailer with actual stock. This will be the last nvidia card I buy for at least 3 years, and then will explore the AMD/Intel offerings. I was waiting for a 5090FE, but simply can’t be bothered and play older titles.

Has anyone from OCUK got a Zotac 5090 Solid? The normal one.
Rumours on reddit are that people got some.

One person had one ship out on Friday. No idea how they determine the order though, I put my order in some seconds before them and got nothing, maybe my credit card took slightly longer to process, I dunno. Either way I'd presume they can't have gotten many at all for a situation like that to happen.
^ This was me, posted about it on this thread. Also posted on Discord and Reddit.

On another note... bring back the coil whine, this clicking is winding me up already:

That sounds like something has been left in the washing machine.

Are you keeping this?

Maybe its just me, but that wouldn't bother me in the slightest.. sure i'd rather a quieter one, but regular audio or headphones would drown it out

I'm sure I can drown the noise out, but it does leave me wondering what exactly is happening for it to click like that. It is doing it while the fans are completely idle.

At this point I'm assuming the sound is coming from the GPU... if it is still making the noise after work tomorrow, I'll open up the case to confirm it is definitely coming from that and not a different part of the PC. Would be nice to find out if is just a dodgy case fan or something lol.

Quickest way to check would just be to run heaven benchmark in a window, get afterburner up and lower the power limit to 70%. If the electrical noise stops, yup it’s the card.

Could do it in about 3 mins, no case opening required!

That doesn't sound very well - dodgy fan was my guess too. I guess the question is whether it's a GPU fan or a case fan.

I'll try that first then.

Can't be GPU fan, still making the noise when they aren't moving.

Question for those who have returned GPUs before.

If you were within the 14 day return window, did you just return the GPU to OCUK/the retailer without any questions asked? I know it is part of the distance selling rules, but some retailers kick up a fuss more than others when it comes to returning opened products from my experience.

Have you managed to find other people with the card to ask? I know some people in America have got the OC version on launch because microcentre had it, so you could check with them to see if they have it.
