NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

Please tell me... if its only 32-bit PhysX and not 64-bit PhysX then what exactly is the impact of this? Which games are affected and to what extent?

Reactions: TNA
We don't sell our old cards until we get our new ones. :D

My system is sell my primary card a month or so before launch (where prices are normally high) and upgrade my back-up card. This round, I sold my 4090 Strix in November for a good orice and upgraded my backup to a 6950xt RD for £375.

I got bit this round because a) resale prices are higher now, b) who knew most people would wait months for a 5090. It's an unprecedentedly-bad market.

In any case, I'm happy biding my time with my 69050xt -- it's a surprisingly capable card.

It’s not ideal but I find myself struggling to care with that list. I can always whip out my PS3 to play Batman :o :p

Tbh I was kind of surprised the list of games was so small. I’m not going to lament a bunch of games I had no imminent urge to play.

As I thought, it's basically a non-issue. The games will still work too, just without PhysX?

It's not an unprecedentedly bad market, the RTX4090 release was very similar. The RTX3080 release was also terrible for availability. Basically, it's been like this for 4 years.

There are actually 4-5 games on that list that I pick up now and again: Batman series, Metros, Borderlands 2, GRAW 2, AC: Black Flag, and of course Hot Dance Party. In the Batman games in particular, Physx does make a significant diffence graphically and in implemented heavily.

Didn't I read you could run something as low as a 1060 as a dedicated Physx card to basically double your FPS, thus resolving? I have a spare 1070 lying around I could use for this...

I don't have a pre-order anywhere.
The card I want (Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Aorus Master Ice) wasn't even listed anywhere besides OCUK on launch day, so the best I could get was "Notify me" set on 4 of the 5 sites that now list it.

Hot Dance Party 1&2 are the only ones I care about.

I’d rather have less ROPS!

It's way better than the competing Tepid West German Synthpop Rolick where all the music is Kraftwerk tracks. Some people prefer it, but to TBH, I found it a bit to Eurojanky.

I wasn't kidding on those other games, though: I do spin them up now and again. It does look like the solution is straightforward if you have an older GTX/RTX card lying around: https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-com...th-rtx-3050-helper-to-enable-full-performance. But who wants to keep a separate card in your PC just for a few older games?

That is a workaround however it would restrict airflow a bit.

I wonder how much worse these games look without PhysX on at all?

Edit: missed the ice part, ignore
