NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

If you're not sending either of them back then why not test them to see which one you prefer or if you think the more expensive one has some sort of benefit?

If it was me I would keep the cheaper one because I can't imagine there is possibly £800 worth of benefit from the AIB card.
Well my friend has first right of refusal, if he refuses (I can understand they are pricey items) then I will return next week. I am leaning towards an FE, as you said 800 quid difference is not worth 5-8% in extra performance. For the MSI's value is in keeping cooler temps in the case, but the case is pretty well ventilated.

Hi guys,

Posted on reddit, but thought I would get some feedback here. So I managed to get a 5090 Suprim Liquid last week at UK 'MSRP' from a competitor at 2.7k GBP. This morning I got an alert to snag a 5090 FE at 1.9k GBP, so I went for it given its so much cheaper. I will only keep one, I have no interest in scalping and will offer to a friend at cost the one I don't want. Can I get general feedback from everyone on which to keep? Of course the price difference is big so that's the main thing. But also I keep reading online that the FE cards are not as good as the AIB cards, especially with coil whine. So if anyone has real world experience would be very helpful for me to choose the right card. If I do keep the FE then it will certainly be undervolted. My case is a Havn HS420, 5 140mm intakes, 1 140 exhaust, and a CPU AIO with 3 120mm fans exhaust.

Thank you in advance :)

The FE is cheap, but the Suprim Liquid is an absolute steal at £2,700. That's the one I regret missing out on. When it comes back in stock, it's going to be £2.9k minimum, probably £3k.

How silent is your setup now? If you don't care about noise then go with the FE. If you do, then it has to be the Suprim Liquid.

Silent setup? What is that? I come from years of being on the move and as a result using Alienware laptops for my PC gaming needs

as you said 800 quid difference is not worth 5-8% in extra performance.
Performance difference is more like 2-4%, not worth £800

I'd love to have an AIO on my 5090, but after following the undervolting guide my FE is now rarely over 60c and uses no more than 450w and even performs better than before
Was playing Stalker 2 last night, maxed out with DLSS balanced, no frame gen and it was only using 290-310 watts. It jumped up to near 350w on the odd occasion, but not for long. With numbers like these an AIO is not needed

How are the memory temps with you?

I've been running an MSI Ventus 5080 for the last month without issue.

I've managed to secure a 5090FE, but I think I need to look at replacing my PSU? Currently using an 850W, recommendations for a replacement?

i have just bought the NZXT C1500 as listed in the link. Can get for £240. It should keep me good for a good few years and has dual 12V-2x6 Connectors in case Nvidia wake up and add two to the 6000 series.

Do you guys think about 5080 is a good card for 4k, or wait and see what the Ti brings?
Uplift is poor this gen so for sure it's less exciting than previous generations. The problem with waiting for a Ti is there's a good chance it's just a pre-overclocked 5080 with more VRAM that's more expensive and potentially not that far off from the 60 series launch.. which is a node shrink and hopefully more interesting. Who knows though, maybe the 60 series is terrible.
