Nvidia Updates GeForce Experience - Accounts and Passwords Now Mandatory

...

It just gets worse, there's just no need for a bloody account and password for every sodding little irrelevant thing.

I know, it's so annoying and genuinely difficult to keep track of them all. It's all so unnecessary for the end user. That's the way it's heading though unless something drastically changes. Nvidia obviously feels it can get away with it, and with no alternative at the moment, they're probably right. Most people will moan and complains and then buy Nvidia and sign up anyway. Giving Nvidia more data and more power over us, no good will come from it, well no good for us.

And yet it still isn't just hating on NVidia for the sake of it.

Just remember it is Voluntary, you don't have to use it. :([/QUOTE]

I'm not sure why you keep referring to NVidia being singled out. I've owned 4 graphics cards, 2 being Amd and 2 including my current one being Nvidia. I have no preference other than which provides the best bang for buck at the time.

I'd imagine the reason people are discussing Nvidia is probably because this thread is specially about Nvidia and GeForce experience. Maybe.

I have lost count of how many times this type of information shouldn't end up available to the public but did end up in the public hands. I used to be like you but experience has changed that and I know better now. We should be worried. Its best practice not to sigh up and give out this type of information.

Totally agree. We recently did a social engineering project in work and while the amount of people who opened the (Test) fraudulent emails and clicked on the links was low (still scary) some of the newer social engineering tricks are very worrisome, there were a few I hadn't even come across before and they are constantly innovating. From a risk-based perspective, this increases the risk to you and it is all so unnecessary.

Its quite surreal when people call you out for being an Nvidia hater where the GPU you run is Nvidia

Anything negative said about Nvidia = Nvidia hater, Happens to me a lot, i put quite a lot of energy in criticizing AMD for the 290/X reference cooler, the lack of competitive performance from AMD right now.... poured scorn on them and not for the first and last time, 80% of the forum is in full agreement and suddenly i'm popular.

Treat Nvidia in the same way and its as if i'm stood at their door with their squashed Cat saying "next time keep it on a leash"

Funny that there isn't the same uproar at AMD for using Raptr, which of course requires a email login for a permanent account. ;)

lol why do keep on with this world against NVidia crap? And then you bring in Raptr as some kind of rebuttal.

People did give out loads about raptr. They complained about having to use another app to do stuff that Nvidia provided themselves. And it was the same complaints too, having to login to another program, more crap to download etc.

So much hyperbole! Seriously guys, if you are that fussed, don't use it and just do regular updates from the website. Simples really.

Could that possibly be why I have referred to NVidia being singled out, seeing as this is a thread about the very issue.

Oh yes and humbug Forza works fine here and I'm on the 389.09 drivers, so not sure why it asked you to update the driver.

3 Months between update cycles if you do that, you don't get any game release drivers.

What.... I'm not sure where you get these ideas from but that is just plainly wrong.

humbug, as a self confessed NVidia user, I don't understand how you didn't know this to be wrong. You must have seen all the game ready drivers, when you update yours, surely.

You are wrong Humbug and thanks Bru for showing it. I honestly don't know what is in your head at times Humbug but clearly you tell yourself stuff and then post it as fact. Crazy way of going through life.

It looks to like you wont get the game ready drivers.

There is also Shodowplay, Game Stream and Ansel is you have a 10 series GPU.

Which is why I'm a bit confused as to why you are being so defensive. Their has no doubt has been discussions about other company's as well as others have pointed out.

Just to clarify for you buddy I have no preference over Nvidia or Amd. I'm not talking about Amd or others as A) I currently own a Nvidia card, and B) This thread is about Nvidia.

It makes you feel better you are welcome to start a Amd specific topic for the purpose of balance.

So again just to clarify this is NOT about paranoia and this is NOT just about targeting Nvidia.

Think you need to simplify it and direct them back and remind them to what the discussions all about mate:

if you like to use features like Ansel, ShadowPlay, Game Stream and driver updates you'll need to login with your personalized account or a Google account. The new update requires you to log in so that it can store your game preferences (and probably a lot of other undisclosed stuff if not now then later) onto the cloud.

GR Driver updates is the only one as yet that doesn't require a login, matter a time though.:p

Could be gone tomorrow for all you know, I'd pmsl if it did.:p

The latest drivers are listed on the website and you get the option of installing Geforce Experience or not. If you don't want to register at Nvidia, then don't. Why is this so hard for you to grasp?
