NVIDIA Volta with GDDR6 in early 2018?

I can see why consoles are appealing, but the way they tout them as 'ultimate gaming machines' is fairly laughable to be honest.
When Crysis 1 years after PC version was ported to consoles it looked crap with all vastly simplified effects etc...

With settings tweaks some textures are about only part in that game which look really dated...
Well, by adding some blur, cheap effects etc it would go perfectly through in consoles.

No, both 2017 versions.

I've actually bought 3 as I accidentally fried one of them installing the EVGA hybrid cooler.

Luckily my home insurance paid out for it today so quite chuffed.

your home insurance covered you ******* up your own gpu??

how the hell...

I've been holding off doing a custom loop because I've been 50/50 if they would ever pay out if it leaked...

I'm guessing there was a, (cough), drop involved.

No. I accidentally wiped off some of the thermal paste (pre-applied to the cooler plate) and being a novice didn't think to reapply it. Soon as I booted up a game the fans went crazy and the card cut out so obviously created a massive heat transfer and fried the chip.

Tried the whole process again a couple of days later on my other card and all went well. My nerves went through hell in the process however!

I was really surprised the insurance shelled out but the gamble paid off.

Accidental damage. You have to pay a premium but it covers you. I had this with my xbox 360. I was told that it covers all accidental damage i was even told if i was to dropkick it id get it replaced but advised me not to do that lol.

With AMD flopping, anyone reckon nvidia might introduce a "HEDT" range of cards? Extend the Titan range.

Are there any rumours about when Volta will land? I've got a GTX 1080 just now but wondering if its worth selling it and getting a GTX 1080 Ti so I have a better experience gaming on my 4K TV? Or should I wait?

For some odd reason I do not ever recall Crysis coming to the consoles. Or I would have got it. Or I've perhaps simply forgotten about it. I remember Crysis 2 as that was why the whole gameplay environment changed for the game itself. "Console port bleh!"

However, Crysis with all the different mods... Nom nom nom! Though, I'm still shocked how relatively short the game was. Still love it. Replayed it 3 times so far recently.

Onslaught was incredibly fun aswell as missile launchers and you name it are whizzing by everywhere. Let alone all the gunships while hiding in the small bush areas.

Crysis 2 had a dissapointing ending. Well, it was different but there was no big boss but 4 super soldier type robots protecting the core. I think one or two I fought then ran through quickly to the core but the MaLDoHD mod is simply incredible.

Crysis Warhead with Sykes mod, damn! Still playing my first playthrough in this. The particle effects, the smoke effects it is pure eyecandy galore.

I don't know why but for some reason I prefer the Crysis/Warhead hud and crosshairs over Crysis 2. From what I've seen Crysis 3 is pretty much the same UI as Crysis 2...

Gorgeous all the mods to choose.

Thanks, I do have the money but honestly my GTX 1080 is doing great at 1440p144 I just had the urge to be on the latest and greatest.

Any news on when Volta is expected to drop?

In my opinion not worth it with the current prices (thanks miners!) and your current card.

I said I wanted to wait for Volta Ti, however if the first one is good I may get it before my current card loses more resale value, and hop onto the Ti later. This is how it's going to go in all likelihood, knowing myself ha ha! GPUs always excite me! More than any other component.

There's an annoying current rumor going around by one of those source less tabloid sites that GeForce Volta is a mere Pascal die shrink (highly doubt it). @Kaapstad you always know loads, any comment on this? As Tom Logan pointed out, Volta was ready before Pascal launched, discrediting the tabloid story further.

Exactly what I'm doing. My GTX1080 with my Acer x34a ultra-wide is more then enough with all current games. No need for 1080Ti. I'll be going for GTX2080 the min it lands:D

Yep, i was hoping Vega might surprise us and give us 1080TI performance for under £500 but that doesn't look like that is going to happen now so i will wait for Volta. My 1080 still does extremely well at 1440p anyway so don't really need to upgrade yet anyway.
