Nvme help..

Last time I got an nvme drive a messed up and got one that was silly slow.

Is this drive worth buying? If not what should we be getting. Its just for OS and games only getting m.2 to save on cables not bothered about the speed of nvme but if your paying for it... you want it.

The one I linked is cheaper so if not bother about speed or performance that would be the one to buy?

I think the one I got last time was Dramless so it was fast is some cases but slow when doing day to day tasks.

Im not sure about teh quality on Toshiba NVMe drives so suggested WD which is a well known quality brand.

The WD Blue is only an extra £5. I’d go for that over the Toshiba, at least partly because the WD states it has a 5year warranty. I didn’t notice what the Toshiba one had.

I remembered what it was. The drive would overheat and slow to a crawl

Also endurance rating (TBW) is higher on the WD. I think the SN550 has got decent sustained speeds over larger file transfers as per some reviews. Despite being dramless it performs better than some that have dram from what I remember (will try and find the review).

no heatsink installed on it? ocuk do cheapo heatsinks, i got a jonsbo one fairly hefty and cools the drive really well. worth the 5 quid id say.

that drive has 400tbw according to the specs on ocuk page. the gigabyte drive is same price but has 1600tbw. i know where my monies would be spent on.

What about that compared to the sn550... I was recommended that drive and I did buy it last week

I've ordered one this time.. I did get the same one. Looks to do an ok job so happy to spend the £5er

The 1tb gigabyte drive is £150 compared to £ 90 for the drive originally linked to.

SN550 has a TBW rating of 600.

Well it fitted and working and there is zero chance of me changing it now.

Its faster than the 250gb sata and 2tb spinning rust that was in use

Tbf I Googled a few drives and couldn't find that one under 130 instock from a shop that no going to Rob you

Worth checking out. 1600tbw is impressive for the sub 100 price
