Oblivion mods and tips

Oblivion can look absolutely stunning with some work, I have so many mods running on my oblivion, and it puts the original game to shame. They do take some fiddling to get working together, load orders, and clashing mods are the main problem, but its worth it in the long run.

My favourite mod by a long way is a combination of mods:

DMC Stylish + MAO + Deadly reflexes - These are combat mods. Look at them before venturing into using them, as they make the fighting styles more Devil May Cry...ish. And they do take some playing with to get them working together.

They require the usuals: OBSE: OBMM, and a few others i forget. Will have to take a look when my main rig is back online.

How is Deadly Reflex? It sounds good but also incredibly in-depth (so I'm more worried about the installation itself causing problems than anything else). Could make Acrobatics very useful too. Might be worth trying it out with nGCD maybe later this week.

I ususally do The Thieves Guild quests as one of the first, along with the Dark Brotherhood. They are the best faction ones to do. Don't think i ever completed the Fighters guild line.
I played through once doing Knights of The Nine as the very first thing and it kinda made sense too. It doesn't really make sense to me to have so many thing going at the same time tbh. You can end up with 5 or 6 supposedly really important things to do at the same time.

I like playing it in a way where it makes sense to just wander about.

I never used deadly reflex. Thought about it but never bothered. I probably will if i ever play it again though.

The Lost Spires is an excellent quest mod as well.

I'm actually confused as to what Mods to use myself.
I'm looking for one with top notch graphics, but also a great overhaul of monsters, enemies, NCPs and other stuff.

Do many of these files conflict with each other? I have OOO mod and it doesn't really seem that great.

Does/has anyone else use/d OOO?

On its own? No I've not bothered. If you really want to go the distance just search for FCOM and get everything that needs. MMM, OOO, Warcry, etc, usually provides a pretty thorough overhaul of the base game even if it is a bit of a pain to install.

OBGE V2 i think looks better than MGE.

Sorry massive picture:

Word of warning regarding the stutter remover, it caps your framerate at something really low like 36fps by default I think (or at least used to) so you may need to tweak the relevant ini file to get 120fps or whatever you use.

Now go and get a screenshot of oblivion with OBGE V2 with the correct shaders turned on. I think it looks just as good if not better.

To be fair, Oblivion wins out on sheer sense of scale - you can look out across a massive distance but OBGE still lags MGE. Here's a local scale picture. (apologies steam compression)

It gives abit of mouse lag that is about it. Graphically its better with the correct shaders. That is what i have experienced anyways.

Sorry for late response, dont venture into PC gaming much, although when i get my new machine for skyrim. I'll be here more :p

If you get the deadly reflexes Omod, you should be okay, as its just step by step installation instructions. It is in depth! But it adds such a massive range to the game, You're able to actually dismember bad guys!!! haha, Thats always a plus. Only thing is if you have any other animation modifications, they can sometimes clash. DMC stylish and Deadly reflexes, they take some real messing around to get working together, as they both alter animations, which is where the 3rd mod, MAO comes in. As it allows you to fine tune. but installing Deadly reflexes on its own, Still makes for a great game, and the fighting is just so much better than the vanilla fighting. Its a necassary install if you ask me, it even boosts magic spells, and gives you some rather interesting ones. But I'll not spoil that :p

Also, Didnt know what NGCD was, Just googled, and I think I'll be trying that out.

Also, to anyone not aware of it. BOSS - Better Oblivion Sorting Software. Can help sort out load orders, and often improve loading speeds. Obviously, this re orders your loading order list, and its not a perfect science. So if your load order isnt broke, dont fix it! :p
