OBLIVION - MooSe's Essential Links/mods & Tips

you'll have to fiddle with the install order in OMM.
I had some funny hand textures and missing hairs and re-ordered the load order.
all good now so try it yourself.

ah well that depends entirely on your hardware setup :D
check back to the last update post i did for texture comparison websites etc.

Me wants that pc
I`ll hopefully have a pc like that in a few months time.
As for textures i`d deffo give qarls full texture pack 3 a go,then try at least a 2048 lod mod from link below. They also have comparison shots. With your system i`d even be tempted to try a 4096 mod..

How`s it running just now? bet its flying

not really, every time i try an advanced texture pack like qarls i get loads of texture bugs like missing textures and animation problems.
Have a read here towards end

Seems an 8800 problem with vista
"AFAIK this is a known bug the Windows Vista drivers for the 8800 series cards. Doesn't happen on older cards under WinXP.

Try running smaller LOD textures (as described on the TOTO site) and see if it helps, or do as Tanto suggests and switch back to WinXP.

Hmm hope they get this sorted,i`m in for upgrading to a gtx next month

does'nt matter what cpu or gfx card you have. remember data from hdd via ram will always cause the stutter that makes the game unenjoyable.
higher rez texture packs mean more data and stutter.
personally i'd never use qarls.
any mod that wants to use that much vid mem is trying to suck it's own nob :D
proffesional game devs don't use or need that much. neither do we.

First off thanks for the great thread Moosey, it amde me go out and buy Oblivion and I'm not regretting it at all :)

I downloaded and installed a few mods and alls well, I also got a few of the paid for pluggins as they seemed a nice little extra, but sadly was clicking away and didn't notice the text off to the left saying about Vista and was rather shocked when i tried to install them and the loader crashes.

Do you know if anyone has found a way of installing these in Vista?

Thanks

If it's the same kind of problem as with 64-bit XP (i.e. the installer doesn't work) you should be able to just get the .esp files and add them using the Data Files option in the launcher or mod manager.

bah got it working, just disabled the music, oblivion now has a rock music background, (im running itunes at the same time)

p.s. this doesnt deserve to be on page 9

I'm just getting into this again and I've spent hours downloading mods for it. I tried most of the mods that moosey recommended but not all are appearing in the file list when I start oblivion (or in OBMM) like kickban's house of wonders, I'm pretty sure I installed them correctly.

Also, do people prefer natural environments or AWS weather?

KB house of wonders should appear in OMM mod list.
Are you extracting from the mod straight to Oblivion data? Sometimes the texture and mesh mod folders have capitals or lowercase ie Texture or Mesh for their installers and create new folders in your data directory. I always extract mods to a seperate folder, read the "readme" then manually install it by moving each file to it's relevant location.
I found that unzipping straight to data caused more problems.

Never used AWS weather so can't comment. Natural Enviroments with the weather options loaded is a stunner though.

P.S.

Holy thread resurrection
I've been playing STALKER lately and refitting a kitchen so had no time for Oblivion mods and stuff.
If you load a good unmentioned mod be sure to link it here and tell us all.
Would'nt want this post to drift into obscurity....... :D

Thanks for that, I got KB house of wonders working, just re downloaded and reinstalled.

The weather mod I was talking about is [RELZ] Atmospheric Weather System 2.1 - http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=666161 -
Is this compatible with Natural Enviroments?

Also, what do you mean when you say "Natural Enviroments with the weather options loaded is a stunner though." Do I just have to load the natural habitat, natural weather, natural water?
