yeah quality thread. i'm using that OOO mod thing, much better, the loot distribution actually makes it worth going through the caves. one thing i don't get about it though is some of the chests - i can't open them! they flash purple but bashing them doesn't open them nor does spells or lockpicking - what am i supposed to do?!

A patch was going to be released before the expansion, so I guess that's it

I think you can only bash them open if you have sufficient strength, just sheath your weapon and you should be able to lockpick as normal.

Ok here's some armour mods and pics. all are available from - TESS
you just need to register, go to files, search and put in the keyword for the armour mod. (cos i can't be bothered to link them all :p ).
*tip* goto weapons and armour, on the toolbar display menu click the "-" sign for downloads. this brings the most popular up first otherwise you'll trawl through the dross first.
Some are single sets and some are armouries which include multiple types. i've tried most of the sets here, none have given any clipping issues.
Remember armour is a very personal choice. these are just some i've used and like. if you check out the armour listing at TES Source there are hundreds of armours to choose from. most are just re-textures of vanilla sets but there are some nice original sets.
i'd say its a 50/50 choice how you obtain sets in game. 50% are available to purchase and 50% involve a mini quest as they are in a dungeon or cave somewhere. the "readme's" always include locations etc.
Also if you are a light armour fan you'll find most sets are heavy. don't worry. use Construction set to edit it to light and change stats accordingly. (i'll do a "how to" if requested)

In alphabetical order -

Alternative Light Armours (use these keywords for TESS search)

Crusader Helm
This was done before KoTN, its not as good as the real crusaders helmet but not bad. includes neck mail which is important for helmet mods. i currently use it as my divine crusader set is hung up in the priory (for roleplaying reasons.... ok, you can't wear it with infamy points!)

Incendite Armour
Comes free in a chest in IC market. tis enchanted and glows :) I don't use it but it looks cool on an armour dummy in my house.

Flame Glass Armour
Re-textured glass. looks fantastic. i keep it on display on an armour dummy as it does'nt fit with my role play.
flameglassequipment2nu1.jpg

God of War set
an intricately detailed set. very smart.
godofwarkg3.jpg

Griffin Armour
I like this set because its a tradional medieval style which there are'nt enough of! only helm, hauberk and shield. makes you look like a proper knight rather than some contempory greek hopliite.
griffinarmor3zn4.jpg

ryudarssilverglassarmoryd1.jpg

Saurons Armour Chest
I love this one. from the film LOTR. an evil looking set. the mace is handy too if you like blunt. i keep it on an armour dummy and save it for special evil occasions. (like beating the Gray Prince into a bloody pulp!)
it's in a cave which is a chore cos its right down in the depths.
sauronsarmorchest5sf3.jpg

ShadowMail Armour set
The screeny does'nt do this justice. its really very good. (used in OOO). very comprehensive set.
shadowmailarmor1oj5.jpg

Sallets
A German style medieval helmet. i think it looks fantastic with steel armour. (ebony sallet included too)
steelsallet2eu4.jpg

I've downloaded the construction set, as wanted to dabble at making my own armor and weapons.

However, I havent a clue how to go about this, any suggestions or can someone point me in the direction of a good guide to offer assistance.
