Obsession

Yeah comes out end of month here. Same week as the backrooms got my eye on both.

I wanted to go watch it, but my local indie cinema isn't showing this film for some reason.

Only other option for watching at the cinema is to go to the Cineworld near me, which I don't really want to do.

I emailed my local indie cinema earlier and they responded:

We do not currently have any plans to show Obsession I'm afraid, as we just don't have enough space at the moment due to the current films on release. I will pass on your suggestion to our programmers for the future.

That's a shame.

That's a shame.
For a small cinema that’s insane. This is getting loads of hype and rightly so. What are they playing instead? Me and my friends I watched it with thoroughly enjoyed it. I’m not a horror fan, it’s terrifying and has some real “wtf” moments. It’s a great watch, especially in a cinema. Totally freaks you out, I’d definitely recommend it.

Michael, The Christophers, Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu, The Sheep Detectives and The Devil Wears Prada 2.

It does sound like they're missing out by not showing it, but they don't have enough screens.

Surely they’ve misunderstood their place in the market as a small independent cinema. Obsession is not exactly a budget release (it’s a Focus Features / Universal release) but indie cinemas should make sure they aren’t just playing the same big releases as the multiplexes otherwise there’s no point in them existing

Shame, but good on you for asking them about it.

It's a tricky balance I think. They were showing Project Hail Mary as soon as that was released.

I have a cineworld pass and I was going to see the Mandalorian film this week. I think I will go see this instead.

EDIT : No I won't. Only two screenings later in the evening and they don't work for me. I guess I will be going to see one of the 10 Mando screenings instead. :(

Watched it at the weekend in my local Odeon Luxe. All evening showings were almost fully sold out which was good to see, although there were a lot of younger adults in the cinema talking and laughing which ruined it slightly (will probably be the last horror I go to the cinema to watch).

I really enjoyed the film itself though.
