Given you started posting this well over 2 years ago and there is still no signs of a release, even after the original Crysis has pretty much been given up on by the community, why are you suprised?

Simply because there are a lot of people who used to frequent this forum that have supported the modification throughout those 2 years. We have even recruited team members from here.

Advertising for Beta testers = No sign of release? Right...

As for our progress:
Just remind me again how many other total conversions have been released for Crysis?

Our goal was always 60-90 days after release, but that was contingent on having the tools we needed in a functional PreSDK, when we were promised it by Crytek. After 18 months of limited builds we finally got what we needed on the same day as the rest of the world.

The point about the viability of releasing for Crysis is a serious one though, the Original Obsidian Edge for Far Cry, although only produced by 4 people, took around 18months and by that time there was not a big enough audience left playing FC for it.

Because of this, we are closely monitoring the progress of the Warhead C++ SDK and will make a decision at the earliest opportunity as to whether to change horses or not. Models, Sounds, Animations and Levels should be unaffected, so its really down to the impact of changes to our current alpha code base.

Thanks for the post Fox, I would honestly sooner have people ask about our lack of progress than ignore us. In the next month we will release more media updates that will hopefully convince you that we are right to keep working :p

In the next month...
Please shoot me the next time I make a prediction like that...
That said, better late than never we are back with an update on our progress.

We announce our move to the Wars version of the SDK and layout our release strategy along with a tentative schedule.

You can read the full article and view the latest media here

As long as the mod is good, the effort will be worth it. Crysis still has a sizeable multiplayer community so it won't be wasted.

We hope so guys... we should have been out of the door months back...

As mentioned in the news post, our updates should be smaller but more frequent now so please keep half an eye on our website.

For any talanted modders that have time on their hands, also please check out our recruitment requests with in the news post.

I think it's safe to say this mod will never see light of day, and if it does, it will quickly die through a lack of support as the Crysis ship has well and truely sailed. A real shame as it looked very promising and very exciting, but come on guys, almost 2 years to make a mod?

I wish you the very best of luck and I'll be really pleased to be proved wrong as the mod looked very promising, but come on, 2 years? The news post adds nothing to the story that changes my opinion. Sorry :(

I hope you prove me wrong but we'll revist this thread in 3 months I think..

Thanks for the good wishes, as you say its down to us to prove you wrong now....
We do have a track record for that though...the original release of Obsidian Edge on the Far Cry platform took 18+months to complete. The guy from PC Zone (UK) described our mode of operation in the December 2005 issue...

...and after disappearing for 15 months they've emerged with funny beards and a mod...
That was far less ambitious project that what we are doing for CE2...
Maybe thats been part of the problem, we were too ambitious, too reliant on 3rd parties etc...

If you do read the news post you will see that ambition has been scaled to meet a swift release, but not at the expense of quality, we have learned the lesson that phased releases are definately the way to go....

Cheers!
