OcUK acquire new larger premises - operational from 26th May 2009

congratulations & good luck with the move.

Was going to make the effort to come up to OCUK soon, but think I'll wait until after the move

Always did think OcUK deserved slightly 'better' premises than in Fenton :) -- this sounds and looks like an awesome move.

Just an extra few minutes drive as well for me! I'll sure be taking a drive to it when I next need some hardware! :)

congratulations. The only thing i will miss about the old place is the cafe on the corner.
And as a bonus its 15 min's less drive time.

Nice to see the shop hasn't moved that much further away. I do like to pop up when i want something mega quick and don't wanna wait until next day for delivery. I guess i must have been lucky on 3/4 occasions when i've visited. I walked in and i was the only customer

Where is newcastle under lyne is that Newcastle as in the city or what? I knew I should have paid more attention in GCSE Geography!

It's in Staffordshire, just basically in the same place as Stoke-on-Trent but it's just a borough that decided it didn't want to be a part of S-O-T. I'm also from Newcastle-Under-Lyme but I just say I'm from Stoke, as people just think of Geordie land otherwise. :p

But yea, grats on the new place! Much closer to me now. :D

Nope. Newcastle-Under-Lyme is near Wales. Newcastle (Newcastle-Upon-Tyne) is in the North East.

Near Wales? Its nearer to Wales than it is to Newcastle-Upon-TYNE, but so is Warwick. :p

A better direction would have been to say that its only 5 miles up the road from the current OcUK HQ.

Didn't anyone listen in Geography? :D

Newcastle-Under-Lyme is the next town north of Stoke up the A500. (Approx 5 Miles up the A500 - 10 Mins MAX in the car)
Newcastle-Upon-Tyne is way up in the north east and is where Ant & Dec come from :D

There is a Google Earth link in the OP too folks ;)

Geography lesson over:D

Who else is sending "Good Luck in your new home" cards then?

Should have got Katie and Phil from Location, Location, Location to help you find a new place - Free advertising on the goggle box :)

Could have held a plackard behind Katie saying "OcUK Community would HIT IT"

with bigger offices does this mean you'll be stocking more products ?

I hope so because I could not get an enterprise edition hard drive recently from OC; the Hitachi Deskstar E7K1000 (E for Enterprise). I will look again at my options as OC is always striving to improve for the customers benefit and we should continue our support. Good luck on the move :)

can we see some more photos of the building, inside too. How much bigger is the till section going to be? Will there be more systems and popular components on display for us to look at and/or test. It's always nice to see high end keyboard etc in the flesh before we buy which is why the DSG group is great for us who want to check out what new printers, keyboards, monitors etc look like before we buy.

btw, you really need to change your process of reviews for your products, i've left quite a few reviews, they take forever for you to approve them. What you should do is allow them to be added without approval and have a "report comment" button so that if there is a comment that isn't allowing like swearing, racism etc then your staff can delete it.

Maybe you could give us some details of where the nearest train station is and how far it is walking distance from it or near bus stops and things.

You should add some cheaper brands of bluray BD25 discs and dvd+r dl discs, Aone can be pretty decent and are very cheap at competitors, same with ritek.

You should add more core i7 bundles and add the asus p6t v2, your biggest competitors sells that board, you dont:( that, core i7 920 and http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-152-OC&tool=3 would be a very tasty bundle.

maybe you could add prices in 2's for harddrives to encourage people to get 2 for raid0, eg 500gb seagate 7200.12 might be £49.50, add a price for £97.49 for 2, you'd sell a lot more. You'd be able to use your larger warehouse more effectively buy ordered in larger bulk and getting them slightly cheaper.

also add a "report invalid specification" button as lots of your products have mistakes in the specs eg the liyama 2009 model on here: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/productlist.php?groupid=17&catid=510

it says 10,000:1 contrast but its 20,000:1 contrast, if you click on it you will see the specs in the detailed view are correct but not in the overview specs, there are loads of products with similar mistakes.

Post any products you may like to see into the new product suggestions forum. We will take a look and if its a good product that will sell we we will stock your suggestion. :)

I'll try to cover things as best I can:

We will have more photos of the unit/shop nearer the time but since there isn't really much to see at the moment it would be a bit pointless. It's never going to be as big as a certain high-street store (they're having regular issues at the moment due to high costs) but it's going to be a far nicer environment for our customers.

With regards to reviews, I can guarantee you that all reviews get processed several times a day. If they do not appear then they have been rejected for being factually incorrect (eg wrong product) or abusive.

We'll look at adding more information nearer the time of the move.

We've sold Aone media in the past and ended up removing the products as we were finding customers were having problems and creating coasters.

The thing with bundles is that we can never please every single person so we create what actually sells in volume so as not to confuse customers with similar bundles that don't. The reason for not stocking the P6T V2 is because it is the same as the original board minus the SAS port for not very much extra. Once the P6T v1 has ran out then we will have to make the switch but our run rates show that people definitely want the board still.

We may look at RAID "bundles" in the future. A lot of competitors don't do this either as generally most will be happy to pay for two anyway. Very few will impulse buy a second drive because they get a couple of percent off.

Checked the Iiyama monitor and it's fine. If you do find anymore issues with products then feel free to bring them to my attention. Either e-mail adam.whitworth @ overclockers.co.uk (minus the spaces), add Yewen to MSN as he is around most evenings ([email protected]) or post in the Product Suggestions forum.
