*****OcUK Benchmark Results from ATI HD 69xx Series*****

I thought the 6970 would be at least on par with 580, so I am disappointed in that respect. But as the price is much lower, I think that makes up for it.

I was not planing on buying it even if it was 20-30% faster than 580 anyway. I already have a 40nm card. Will wait 10-12 months and get a 100% faster card, not 15-20% lol :)

Looks like AMD missed the performance target by a small bit, but they definitely nailed the price! Tough choice between the 6970 and the gtx570, although if I had a big 1600p monitor I'd go for the AMD.

One thing that strikes me in the reviews - a lot more of the weaker cards like the 6850/6870/gtx460 look a solid choice in multi card setups. SLi/Crossfire Scaling has vastly improved this year.

As far as the AMD presentation slides go, yes.

Think it's rumoured to be out in Feburary 2011. As is the dual NV card iirc.

Oh? what dual Nvidia card? 2 x 580? linky please, before I go buy another 580 lol.

Id rather wait if thats the case and see if 2 of the dual nvidia are any good :D

Cheers!

Hope everyone is enjoying ther new cards :D Are they better or nearly the same as the GTX580 for 2/3 cost ish? if so that not too shabby :D

After 12 years with ATI I fancied a change :D

lolz, thats exactly what it was like TB

:D

Especially when it comes to posting graphics from review sites that suit your argument. That is if there is a real argument in the first place. Roll on some benchmarks from the folks here.

Gibbo has done some benches at the start of the thread, and Martini has done some - oh, no, wait .............

RAVEN, read my original post #562.

I posed the question why 6800 and 6900 were so close in relative performance terms. You proceeded to post individual benchmarks, attempting to prove the opposite.

My point was that overall the 6800 is only ~20% slower than 6900, even though 6800 replaced a mid-range card (5700) and 6900 replaced AMD's top end.

You quoted two individual benchmarks and I listed a combination of 20 games and benchmarks taken from a very respected review site.

Please read

I don't get what your point is.... A 6870 is only 20% slower than a 570GTX too, so should we all just buy 6870's or what?

What do you want anybody to say?

A 6970 is a touch faster than a 570, and that is on immature drivers for new tech on the AMD card whereas nvidias drivers will be will developed as Nvidia didn't change much, if anything for their refresh.

Cayman is completely different to AMDs other gpus, and it was only taped out last May, so their driver team should be able to move it along nicely once they get their head around it. Don't ask me how I know, it's just a hunch, but its happened this way for every new chip in the past, so I just don't expect this to be any different.
