OCUK - Best Game of the Year / Worst Game of the Year

Best: Trine 2

Still Playing Sim City 4: 8 years old..... where is 5 please please please

Just Cause 2: Think this is one of the best games over the past few years.

Biggest Dissapointment : Trackmania 2 Canyon

Worst: Batman AA (not surre why I bought it, only a fiver so meh)

Best: Skyrim.

Worst: Havent bought a bad one (unlike last year!), but almost all have been budget/Indie. Still fear SWTOR will disappoint, but thats really going to be played mostly next year.

I've not played many games this year and I've avoided what look like terrible games.

So best is FIFA 12 and worst being BF3 because at the time it was buggy and boring as hell.

If I have to pick a PC game for best then Portal 2.

Far too many older generation games missed, e.g. Half-Life or Oblivion, these were games which paved the way for games today.

I guess most of the replies are from games being played today and not necessarily 'best goty ever'

Best is a tough one, Shogun 2, The Witcher 2, Skyrim and Dark Souls on the consoles are all worthy games.

Worst I have to agree with Neil's original post and go with Red Orchestra 2, the game itself was very good once you got a decent game going. However the amount of bugs, crashes and glitches were so frustrating, even more so that they were nearly always introduced after a new patch arrived, apparently fixing other problems. It got to the point where I couldn't play the game for a good 3-4 weeks and any posts expressing my frustration in the tripwire forum were either deleted or ignored as if I was trolling them.

Just checked my Steam stats and it's showing 6 hours played in total, still crashes on start up as well :D

Maybe older generation games are being missed because this thread is actually about games made/release this year??

Just a guess :)

Exactly. I'm sure some people don't actually read the post content or the thread before replying. But then again, that reply was regarding some of the message content... Just..how.. 0_o

Ahah OK, I swear the title has been edited, I read it as 'GOTY Ever' :)

I withdraw my comments :D

Fair enough.

Best: Saints Row: The Third. Started it expecting to be underwhelmed, finished it thinking I could go back and play it a few times more at least.

Worst: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Why I expected it to be any different to the previous games (no I haven't bought them but I've tried them each for about an hour) I have no idea. Glad I didn't pay full release price for it.

Biggest Disappointment: Test Drive Unlimited 2. All the original hype and potential turned into a big let down. Boring (easy) races, rubbish physics, still loads of bugs, hardly any support after it's release in terms of patches and no downloadable content which was promised before release. It had the power to be something great, but it turned out to be a lot worse than it's predecessor. Too much focus on the naff social aspects instead of the core driving which is what everyone wanted it for.

Maybe I was hoping the thread would move outside its topic...I guess not :)

You understand what the Y in GotY stands for, right? And you understand that the word "ever" cannot be partnered with it?

For me...

Best: Skyrim
Worst: LA Noire - well, I played it on console, but I'd guess the version on PC isn't any less abysmal. Possibly the worst thing I've ever paid £40 for.
