right i reseated bottom card only..
181.20 wouldn't install black screen issue.
installed 178.24 which work but there is memory artfeciting of sorts & lags.
for example opening start bar then closing it half of the start bar will remain.
so i'm going to reseat it tomorrow
hopefully that will fix the issues and i can finally play some games

If its still not right, give rich a call on sat and he will sort you out, I fear it might be a DOA card

Hats off for the service mate but you need to take some time off now and again
FYI I've rolled back a couple of PC's this week that wouldn't run with the 178.24's through to the 181.20's. Black screens and odd crashes, 2 second blackouts in youtube etc. They work fine with the 178.13's though.

Are both cards being picked up? What does GPU-Z say about it?
gpu-z say disabled device manager reports both plugged in fine. meatloaf said i have to use top and bottom slots for SLI to work is that true? i dont think i could use the bottom slot as psu is in the way hopefully rich will verify this as he setup this pc in first place
which motherboard is installed? The p6t Deluxe?
If so its the top 2 slots for SLI.
to see if both cards work I would try one card on its own, take one card out test it, then try the other card on its own.

both cards are working and detected in device manager but under 3d settings in nvdia drivers theres no sli config menu this is the asus oc palm yes. using 178.24 drivers so no SLI rest is fine just played left 4 dead on one 280gtx it was awesome! it should be in nvidia control panel 3d settings > sli shouldnt it? im going to play some cod4 hopefully i will find out not showing the menu soon... maybe 178.24 are not compatible with 280gtx in sli? dont no. 180.20 dont allow me to boot windows (common issue on nvidia forums)

Yeah we test the all the systems, be it cpu, ram, gfx so on.
Things out side my controll do happen.
I have had this issue on my own machine, where it would black screen when SLI was on, and it was a faulty card, which worked fine on its own and not in SLI.
Best thing do is call up ocuk now, ask to speak to rich, I would help now but im not in today.

just to update my pc is now working with sli fine. reinstalled 180.20 againsli ***
its awesome COD4 Maxed with Supersampling Max AA (16x in console)
Left 4 Dead Maxed! 16CSAA 1900x1200 baby

Tried Crysis yet? As you've got a pretty similar spec to me I'm sure you'll get similar results. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
