OcUK Captains Log - The Great Pirate Hunt

going to stick with this for a bit longer - then some down time while i rebuild the system and then back to f@h as i'm only 70k short of the 1 million mark
 
Anyone who wants to stay and build up a buffer.. (ooer) is most welcome. Lets make them work for their spoils this time.. ***! :p

I think we have more chance of climbing the ladder in this project in the near future than quite a few others and we're doing useful work at the same time.

I also think the unfortunate TPF guys gave us a nudge at just the right time for a few of our members who where ready for a change. They'll just have to bob around in our wake for a while till we pick another project to make a major impression on. ;):D

I switched two more of my Q6600's over early this morning an it looks like I was already making about 5k cobblies a day without them. Also, one of my Q6600's won't pick up any work as it is low on disk space, so I'll be putting another drive on this system this week, which give me a bit more wind for my sails (tell you what, the sailing metaphors are quite useful).

It's actually come at the right time for me. The GPU can crank out a lot of f@h points while the CPU can do some BOINC work. I'm in the process of turning the folding box into an actual workstation so overall points may go down a bit but not to worry.

I've set myself little challenges. I want to reach 1,000,000 f@h points, I have 430,000 World Community Grid points that I want to bump to 1,000,000 and then I can focus on the same target with Rosetta.

So, all change in the DC forum then - and in a matter of a few days!

Should be bumping you out of the top RAC spot in the very near future. :D

I was tempted to trawl around my crunchers to see if there are any unsent results to push me over the brink, but it will happen in its own time anyway.
 
Random fact - we've been competing with The Final Front Ear for over two years. They overtook us at least once before (July 3rd 2006). Maybe we can pull away this time. :)
