OCUK Civilized South-Eastern Lunch MkIV (Now with more E46 M3?)

I reported via my insurer (Direct Line) Sunday 24/01 who transferred me directly to their approved installer Auto glass. My rear windscreen had to be ordered directly from BMW Germany as I did not want generic. My insurer approved within 24 hours. Tuesday 26/01/2015 received a call from Autoglass confiming delivery from Germany BMW to UK would be 5/02 and fitting for 06/02.

I have found their service very good comunication wise. They also sent me an email with relevant reference numbers including a link to online portal confirming fitting time (90-120 minutes, date and time between 8-11am) Online portal also allows me to rebook alternative fitting date if required.

So far my experience has been positive, albeit I am also sure the service provision from Autoglass is further reinforced via my insurer Direct Line Car Insurance.

I've had nothing like that service, I reported the windscreen on Sat (30/1) who informed me id be called on the Monday to update on the progress and no phone call. So ive chased them for a update and they are still waiting on the purchasing team for the windscreen. I'm still waiting for a update yet on the progress, ill wait till after lunch and ill chase them again.

However, on the flip side, I've spoken to Porsche who can get the windscreen the next day for me a schedule a fitting at the weekend but that's a £808.49 option.

I presume you went directly through your insurer? It could be the insurer who is holding up the process? i.e auto glass is awaiting confirmation from insurer (sign off). This was the process I was advised by auto glass due to me requesting original glass and not generic.

Personally i would not be forking out £800+ for my rear screen as it is covered under full comprehensive insurance with excess set £75.00.

Did auto glass give you a reference number when you called them initially?

Autoglass are a bunch of choads really. Anyone recall the drama I had with them last year?!

It’s a directly with Auto glass, I've had no reference number etc... As it’s all been done via registration. As my insurance (RSA) have a direct line too them.

Still no update as of yet.

I would have thought AG would have given you a reference number when you contacted them. I gave AG my registration details and inturn they gave a reference number if I needed to call them back. I would contact your insurer and get them involved. Possibly speed up the process?

I've just done all that, no phone calls today, so ive chased them and guess what no update. I've been advised I should have a call back from 8-12 tomorrow, if not ive been told to chase them again.... :(

I'm getting the point where ill book it in at the OPC and sort it myself.

Not very good service by either service provider. Hopefully today you will have received better news. IMO they should be calling you back, and not you chasing. Hope you get it all sorted. This is one of the main reasons why I have remained with DLI over the years. Customer service provision second to none.

Edit: Service level agreements (SLA) between insurers and approved parties differs immensly. This is were DLI has the best SLA in comparision to all other insurers (competitors) with their approved partners.

Anyone recommend places to contact in West Sussex to get my clutch fitted, flywheel re-faced (if it needs it), and gearbox oil & gear linkage bushings changed? Contacted a few places, but they are either untrustworthy it seems (MrClutch/other franchises), or give £LOL quotes.

Only place I know of in that area I would trust with Toyota's is SRD.
No idea if they would look at your car or not, but worth a check.
They are based near crawley iirc

Judging from the website they are going to be expensive... :p But I'll give them a mail just in case... :)

Thanks. Crawley is closer than the only place I know and have used before - Bexhill Gearboxes, and a lot closer than the other place, Old Horsham Developments, which despite the name, is actually in Berkshire! Doh!

weather looks amazing haha

Latest predictions I've seen are that it will be just another 10 degree damp day... Not unexpected I suppose.

I have better things to do! How do they get such power out of them?

By rebuilding the engine from the ground up and slapping a pair of huge turbos on, or, if the owner doesn't care for longevity, a light engine build or no build at all, and slapping a pair of huge turbos on.

Basically, turbos. :p
