The Calpol plug in is a good shout, for saving on refills I've seen some people recommending a couple of drops of olbas oil on the dried out strip but not tried it personally
 
The Calpol thing seems pretty good - unfortunately with congestion you've just gotta power through. They'll be over it and onto the next thing soon enough.
 
The youngest had his tonsils out earlier. Been at the hospital since 7.30

Knackered now. Minor operation I know, but whole days been exhausting.

Forgot to put. Weird use of annual leave. Glad it's done though. He's been ill so many times with his tonsils in 2024.

We totalled up the cash our girls have accumulated this week, and it’s an uncomfortable amount to just be sat in a draw!

Any recommendations for a couple of kiddy accounts? Basically for Xmas/Bday money that family can pay directly into. Both of us as parents need to be able to access independently.

I’m not savvy with ISA’s / funds etc.

Are you looking to give them a spends account or a savings account?

Pretty good, we've weaned them off using the tablet down to 30mins in the evening after school which is great, and they're helping more around the house with chores and so on.

Eldest is wanting to do a triathlon (kid's level) which I'm hugely encouraging of, they seem to be getting more interested in being active (hopefully because they see that I'm very active and do a fair bit of sport etc.).

They seem to be doing well at school but also growing up too fast and making me spend less time doing my things and more time being with them which is perfect.

Taken a heck of a pay cut so I have told them we're unlikely to have as many holidays as last year but that we'll still spend lots of time together which they accepted really positively.

So hopefully more of this to go! I mean of course there's always a bit of upset dealing with things that break, or friends that are being mean or whatever but nothing serious thankfully.

Hope all of yours are doing ok. :)

Our eldest is on his second exclusion in as many months. He'll be on his last chance at the school when he returns. Should the worst happen he'll either end up at a PRU or homeschooled. Neither of those is a realistic option, and I don't know what the alternatives are.

On the flip side, our youngest son just got into a very prestigious private school for his secondary placement in September, so we're delighted with that.
 
@Ian_Eb was there about 6 weeks ago.

It was lovely that he went with his best mate down to the local to order a pint on his own officially. Came back a little grumpy because they didnt ask for his ID :D

lol she went out with a bunch of mates and none of them even bothered with trying. Then they came home and drank... Tea?
 
My daughter is 18. She is off abroad on a school trip this weekend. I am really nervous about it!!! She still my little girl...

Plus, i HATE flying so that is another thing i worry about....
 
It was going alright until this afternoon :o
Nearly two year old has gotten another cough/temperature so probably won't be in nursery for the rest of the week and the 15 year old was attacked by a group of girls at school apparently for being a homophobic racist (she's a gay mixed race girl) so quite an accusation!
 
Jan started well - then it feels like we've just had a non-stop rotation of colds and bugs between all of us!

Our daughter also just started asking 'why?' so my life for the last 2 weeks has been a non-stop stream of 'why?' over and over and over and over.
 
Daughter had a chest infection last week and a half. Had to covertly sneak amoxicillin into milk drinks.

Finally over it on come Saturday / Sunday and today my partner has just noticed some spots on her back and there has been chickenpox going around nursery the past 4 weeks or so. So this could be a very annoying situation.
 
Daughter 1 is 12 and in year 8 at an all girls school. Daughter 2 is 11 and in the final year or primary school. She’s hit puberty earlier than the eldest, great kid, but my god you know it’s the time of the month with her, grumpier than her mother . To top it off my nearly 7 year old lad is a ball of chaos. Parenthood is a bit of a mixed bag!

I worry about my kids getting older in this digital age, kids, esp girls , can be absolute nasty bits of work when they want to be!

My heart goes out to you...surrounded by three women. Well, from what I remember, a bunch of women living today eventually start to coordinate the menstrual cycle so hopefully you only have one week of hell a month in a couple of years (as opposed to the potentially 3 shortly).
