We picked up some baby freebies the other day and it came with loads of flyers and coupons and one was for the Baby Show at the NEC, think it was a discounted price or maybe 2 for 1, I can't remember. Is it worth going then? It would be nice to have a day wandering around looking at things, test driving prams and getting a load of freebies in the process. Tickets aren't exactly cheap and parking is just as much.
the only things we bought below were the Dr Brown's bottles and feeding cushion, sad but I was so chuffed I took a photo...
The crap we brought, I swear we brought **** that I've never seen since purchasing.
My friend is having a child in August and was begging me to talk his missus out of remortgaging the house to buy prams.
I think the biggest waste was a steam cleaner, one accidental turn on without the right amount of water and it killed itself. Was replaced by a sealable bucket full of milton.
I'd rather make each bottle on demand than risk bacteria lying about. The machine could be standing around unused for a substanstial amount of time and it is easy to forget to "clean" it. Let's be honest, how many times do you unscrew the back and thoroughly clean the tubes?
Tommy tippee prep machine and bottle steriliser are awesome, worth their weight in gold.
And a really good quality video monitor (don't buy a cheaper one) excellent for peace of mind without obsessive checking.
Need to be a right tight arse not to get them.
Yeah, I am looking into picking one of these up, any recommendations?
Further, you can easily unclamp it and take it away with you anywhere. We almost felt like bad parents one weekend we stayed in a hotel and had the monitor sat on the bar whilst we drank the place dry
We use ours to see if the kids are/were sat up. If they were then they would likely be getting out of bed. Just piece of mind, and quite frankly theres no other way to hear the kids when were downstairs.I don't understand the need for baby monitors, ours is still in the box.
Same for us. We can sit and relax downstairs and just keep an eye on him for if he wakes up and needs putting back down. Same for when we stay over at the grandparents or like the hotel example above. I'd say for us it was a must buy. Mind you, other people swear on auto baby rockers and the tomee tippee prep machine and we have had absolutely no use for them. You just find what works for you, every baby is different. We use ours to see if the kids are/were sat up. If they were then they would likely be getting out of bed. Just piece of mind, and quite frankly theres no other way to hear the kids when were downstairs.

Good luck sir!

All this chat about prepping bottles and boiling water to sterilise the powder... Am I the only muggins that pays extra for ready mixed formula? By some crude maths I did, it's about 80% more expensive than buying powdered, but 1000% more convenient. No boiling water, no tommy tippee machine taking up half the kitchen. We tried powders for a bit but the milk always looks a bit gammy and our son never really liked it as much. It also looked really dodge if put back in the fridge for a couple of hours. I know that's supposed to be a no-no in any situation, but we've always done that with premixed formula and never once had a problem.
We just sterilise the bottles using the plastic microwave sterilisers which are great.
