Ours is stored at a local storage facility, £240 per year, which is very cheap, usually budget £1 per day. Means I can be on the road in less than 30 mins from leaving home, hitching up and being on the M6.

I was telling the wife of your posts and it's certainly food for though. It would actually suit us massively as we are ones to go away lot on weekends but always opts for cheap hotels (I'm currently looking to go away this weekend!). The kids never care about a Premier Inn or Travel Lodge, they just love getting away. They would love a caravan and we have space on the drive. Our youngest is just 14 months mind and I'd probably only consider this when he's in his 2s potentially.

It's like you say though, we could try it and if it doesn't work out we sell it and lose a little bit of cash for the troubles.

My son is a little over 2 and that's why i'm considering it. We drove to wales and back last weekend and he loved it, however the travelling wiped him out, 7 hours in a single day. A caravan gives the overnight option much cheaper.

I think when mine is out of his cot I'd consider it, I'm pretty sure we couldn't get a cot in a van anyway!
 
We've been touring in various caravans over the year, holiday price in school holidays are a joke so I purchased this Swift Wrenbury L 6 berth (2016) and a Kampa 390 Pro Air Awning and we've been away 3 times this year (all 6 of us)

We used to do this too but the massive pain as once the kids are put down to sleep in the hotel room you have to lie there in darkness and silence for fear of waking them!

Our caravan we use a blackout blind to seperate their bunks at the back and the children have always had whitenoise. Up front we have an Nvidia Shield TV, and before that a Roku which have a headphone jack on the remote. This meant with a headphone splitter we could watch something safe in the knowledge of not waking them up! We can also sit in the awning and chat too if we desire.

Yep, exactly what we do! Although we have three children who haven't been brought up with a routine somewhat so they are flexible with late nights, which is a good thing now and then! We always find the cheap hotels, it's the things we do during the day that always add up.
 
Got our first holiday booked with our little girl in October, off to a hopefully sunny Cornwall in Holywell Bay.. Hopefully we'll get some good weather :) It'll be an experience, she'll be 8 months..... I'm sure we'll forget something to take!!

Complains about school summer holidays prices, posts up pictures of £20k worth of caravan :p

I could do a lot of summer holiday trips for £20k :D (even my week-long trip to Disneyland this year for the family cost < 10% of the caravan cost).

I'm only teasing though, I'd love something like that and the flexibility that comes with it.

I got it for 16k ;) but I took some work share out (can't take it with me) and we will keep it for 3 to 5 years until my teenage sons get bored of coming away with us, plus airports take years off my life when trying to coral 4 children onto a plane

Plus Devon, Norfolk has some amazing places to stay and see our amazing country :D

How do you find parking your caravan when you get to a site? My experience with reversing trailers is terrible I don't seem to be able to program my brain to do it!!

It came with a motor mover, when we had our Bailey Ranger 500/5 I used to have to push, pull, drag it into place so I made sure this came with that and we got the air awning too, both make my life 100 times easier when pitching and packing down
