Can anyone with a Gainward card confirm if they have a serial number sticker on the back of thier cards? Mine has one on the box, but not on the card itself.

WHat temps are people getting ? My seems to idle at around 70c and around 85c during gaming. FurMark makes it go mental and hit about 108c :s.

My test card does not have one on the card. It may have fallen off though. :o

That does seem quite hot. My BFG OC is ~ 50C idle and the max I have seen it reach under extreme stress in Furmark is 85C. Gaming it's usually around 65-70C.

RMA it then, it shouldn't go that high under Furmark :(

They were several threads a while back with people getting duff cards and the way to test was to see if they got to about 107c on Furmark.

+1 For RMAing it

My first gainward gtx280 did that same thing straight to 105c after 2 mins furmark
I RMAed , it once you go past 105C the card starts to throttle back to protect itself , you should notice the frame rate stuttering when temp hit 105C

Ah nuts, i hate RMA'in things :( Ive ran another FurMark before i start any RMA thing off, would you say its deffinately needed ?

Started at 74c then after about 15 minutes it steadily rose and hit 100c and stayed steady at that for another 5 minutes before i turned it off.

Ive also noticed my games crash a lot since putting this card in. Games like Fallout 3 (Not related to the driver release), GTA IV (Crashes a lot, didnt happen once on previous cards) and Assassins Creed.

So a deffinate RMA ?

That really sounds like one of the very early cards prior to the fix being implemented that stopped the temps going ballistic

Received a Zotax GTX280 and mentioned in an earlier post I had problems with PC booting, confirmed it that Zotax GTX280 is faulty. Tried it in a mates PC who already had a GTX 280 and didnt work in his either so its been RMA'd for a refund just now. :(

id rma it m8, also make sure ur case has nice air flow ect ect ect "probs no need to say that as i know ull have done that already" :)

Couldn't imagine how much of a beast this card is it's bloody huge! It's fixed l4d crashing as well I think my 8800gtx was either overheating or just doesn't like l4d with the current drivers, because my friends 8800gts is crashing at the moment as well?

Hi,
I got my GTX280 today (ordered 24th january when there were +10 retail cards available of the original £189.99 +VAT offer).

What a disappoinment!

The card was a standard Gainward GTX 280 packed in pink bubble plastic bag. The cooler and PCI-E connector were full of scratches and I could easily see that the card was an used one.

The retail box was missing and there were only driver disk on the bag.
All manuals were missing as well as some cables (SLI connector for example).
There were also not sign about the Tomb raider game that should have been included in the retail box

It seems to me that they tried to dump one of those B-grade Gainwards to me (which, by the way, are no longer available).

I immediately called to the and they emailed me an RMA application and offered just to give my money back.

I will not accept that offer.
