** OcUK FIRST IN EUROPE WITH DDR4!! **

DDR4 is upon us, been waiting for this, and kinda thinking the pricing will be high.......
Time to start planning for that upgrade.

any chance of someone posting some real world examples of the benefits we would see vs dd3?

Nothing you'll notice...as always with new standards, to begin with it's all about bragging rights on 'having' it.

DDR4 is about the least sensible thing to spend money on for speeding up your PC.

At least it comes in 32GB sets :) Even if I would have to sell all 3 of my monitors and my cintiq and my GPU to buy some :P

Will sell kidney for DDR4

People often talk about 'selling their kidneys' for stuff... just wondered, has anyone actually done so? And if so, where did you manage to do it? I've considered selling at least one of mine, or even 3 or more (we've got like 10 right?) to fund my PC upgrading habit...

8 Pack after the NDA will you be posting a review with plenty of benching results on the Haswell E/x99.

Why do you think he's already playing with the stuff… ;)

As for the speeds/latencies - wait and see guys. You can't compare apples to oranges.

Would probably help if we saw some benchmarks vs ddr3 at same frequencies. Just looking at them specs its almost like an expensive downgrade :(

come on guys, engage your brain for a while & actually think about it. DDR2 latencies were about 4-5, DDR3 latencies are about 9-11, nobody thinks that DDR2 is quicker. Timings are relative, it's the bandwidth that makes the difference to performance.

We've been testing for a few days now and as 8pack said earlier
its not slow!!! not at all!!!

Those prices aren't surprising really. :(

Quite, just a repeat of the DDR-DDR2 and DDR2 - DDR3 crossovers we have seen in the past. Launch stuff is expensive and sometimes slower than the stuff it replaces (broadly speaking - specific applications may benefit).

£666 is almost comical for 32GB of memory.

Prices and speeds seem great for launch, especially as Gibbo is expecting prices to drop when the boards mobo's. All those nay Sayers about DDR4, bet those guys rush out and upgrade as soon as X99 lands :P

£666 is almost comical for 32GB of memory.

Yeah I think that was the point.. Think Gibbo is saying think of these as place holder prices until the motherboards launch.

It's about bus bandwidth these days, not pure clock speed, you should all be aware of that by now... I'm guessing the same is happening with our RAM, bandwidth along with capacity will give better performance than just pure clock speed. Bring on the quantum RAM.

I've heard/read that DDR4 has more capacity for burst access with the higher memory bandwidth. This would mean the CAS (latency) readings are not on the same scale as DDR3? If so the numbers cannot really be used to compare the two!

With a rampage IV extreme, 3930K and 32Gb of 2133 DDR3, I really don't need to upgrade so why does this tempt me? X99 is giving me that damn upgrade itch...

Ok I'll get the daft question out of the way seen as everyone else is showing some restraint

Will this be ok to play minecraft and solitaire?
