OcUK First to bring AMD RX 6900 XT SUB £1000 !!!

You wouldn't think it would be too hard to let the legit gamers register to buy and just sell them one each. I suspect there's plenty of interests pretending they don't like scalping whilst profiting from it themselves.

how would that work ? anyone can say they are and also ask friends and family :(

Discord channels salavating over scalping the next gen gpu`s......lot of money to be made apparently

Unfortunately it seems some people prefer buying from scalpers on ebay than buying cheaper at retail. With mining not being such a big factor I can't see the shortage and scalping going on for over 18 months with the 4000/7000 like it did with the 3000 series. If people are patient and don't buy from the scalpers there will be no scalping and the cards will be available at more reasonable prices in retail. Hopefully the scalpers will quickly run out of people who are willing to pay their prices and be left holding cards. It is now possible to buy 3070ti and 6700xt brand new with warranty for less than some people were paying scalpers for a 3060.

If Nv really wanted gpus to end up in gamers hands, they could sell them via Geforce Experience app-shouldn't be hard to direct you to the FE shop link, the gaming telemetry is already being sent to Nv anyway.

As you are a registered user, it wouldn't be hard to distinguish how many hrs users are spent actually gaming-scalpers wouldn't get a sniff.

Same goes for AMD, but in the Uk they went awol and both of them want max profits they didn't care who bought them.

We do have some 3080 10G under £800 but it’s doubtful an AIB will hit MSRP yet.

Wasn't a pop at you, was aimed at Nv for their misleading price point through most of its life, a very very hard product to buy at mssrp OR their fake etailer pricing with one price on the Nv store but in reality, the actual store price was £400+ on top when you got there.

Not too difficult. One credit card/name combination per address. Yes you could get a friend or relative to order one but you won't get bots ordering 50 at a time.. There's no perfect answer but definitely room for improvement.

Thats already in place, yet theres quite a few that have circumvented it; scalpers gonna scalp for the next 18 months!

pretty sure retailer that deals with the FE doesnt get effected by bots

That's good to know. The more it can be reduced and the bigger the pain/more hoops scalpers have to jump through the better.

Here's a thought, hand out unique, single use SKU specific £2k discount codes to legit gaming customers then put your cards on for MSRP+£2k. That would put an end to automated mass ordering. The truth is most will sell to anyone if they are prepared to pay the price, it's all just profit.

They already have plans in place for you to subscribe and get GPU's from what I seen about six months back.

When you say subscribe what do you mean?

Curious what Nvidia might do.

Subscribe to their platform.

It is Nvidia's belief that software in the long run will generate more cash through subscriptions and upgrades than money coming in through one-time hardware shipments.

I watched it somewhere else at the time but this is another cover of it in web form.

I would guess that they would offer exclusivity to the 'club' if you know what I mean where you would evade retailers and get their GPU.

It's tempting but I suspect it's finally costing what it should cost because the next gen isn't far away and £1K will seem an insane price to pay 6 months form now, I'm waiting for a proper upgrade.

I agree, these prices are just crazy for 2 year old tech that will be blown away in 6 months. People are making out these are great prices just because OCUK is cheapest, but they are not.

I have kind of made this mistake in the past which is why I prioritised grabbing a card this gen at launch. I bought a Vega56 for a good price at the time, but it was swiftly superseded by the VII and 5700XT a few months later.

I'm hoping the next gen are here in 6 months, as I'd love more performance in some games at 4k. I’ve had my 3080 since November 2020 and my 3090FE since June 2021, about time for a nice 50% performance gain from the 4080/4090!

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if they're delayed to early 2023. I highly doubt Nvidia will launch without huge stock piles of cards ready to go in each country, especially after the 3000 launch fiasco.
