OcUK Forums Changes

Personally I like signatures sizes the way they are. The forum is uncluttered looking and isn't full of stupidly large sigs or ones with very annoying animations.

As for forum meets - they were always organised by members themselves. So for those of you that wish there were more, organise one ;)

A few extra Avatars might be nice, maybe one for a milestone somewhere above 1000 and maybe even one for the ladies:

Moderation being a little more transparent would be nice, however, I don't see any benefit of seeing any of the specific posts that people have been banned for.

It would be lovely if you could, instead of adding people to an ignore list, somehow flag their posts in another colour. Just so when you are reading their posts you are prepared for the nonsense they are about to spout. Or if you are busy you can skip completely. I'm only kidding of course, I don't enjoy adding people to ignore, I like to give them the chance to redeem themselves ;)

A recommendation for the members rather than anything else - Please use the RTM more. I know some people use it but there seem to be a lot of people complaining about posts and it doesn't seem like there are that many RTMs (of course I could be wrong as I don;t know the figures)

Delete any threads that have no real searchable content and are inadequately structured. For example threads where the title is something like 'No way I couldn't beleive this' and the OP being some random unidentifiable URL. Generally they tend to be spam fests and result in future thread starters getting told 'repost!' - well how are they supposed to know?

EDIT: Doh I'm so slow at posting sometimes... my poor tiny brain :)

Members to actually make more use of the rtm button..
It's all very well complaining about the amount of bickering in the Graphics Card forum (for instance) but if all you ever rtm is oversize sigs then that doesn't help when you feel people are being overly agressive:)

It took me a while to work out what RTM was and how to do it (I'm special like that :p), but people really need to use it and know about it more. Perhapse include something about it in the FAQ?

- stricter on MM
-console section having sub forums, sony, microsoft and nintendo.
- instead of just banning people, at least let them have a say in it or something, because i no someone who was banned and wasnt sure what he had done.

a name and shame for banned members would be great though.

Having a non free email solves this surely?

Not really.

Everyone has an ISP.. all they have to do is sign up and within minutes they're free to cause chaos.

It happens for time to time.. someone will come along looking to start trouble, post a .rar or 3 and then all hell breaks loose.

having subforums for different brands of console makers is just not worth it...

Well my mate had to wait 48 hours when he signed up recently, and he used an email I created on my website. He had to wait for a Don to see his request for an account before he could use it.
So either it has become stricter or the signup for didn't like my website that much. :p

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE...

can we have different background colors, because every time the mrs sees the blue screen i don't hear the end of it... all night :( even if it is only in GD

A couple of idea's:

Please ban people 'signing off' their posts, it is so unnecessary :(

A reply/post must contain at least 5 characters

I sign mine off because I don't like the name I have on the forums, and I'm not about to try and get it changed, it will do, and that's fine. But I prefer 'InvG' over 'InvaderGIR' as most seem to think I am female.

On the avatar front, how about an avatar for 'Length of time served', say 1yr, 3 yr, 5yrs and 10yrs (when that happens) that way you get rewarded for sticking around the place not just for 'Lol'ing' every post on the board?

Not sure about the validity of a couple of the forums we have in the OcUK Matters sub-forum, they haven't been posted in over a year, maybe make the new product section open to all to at least view to see if they agree with wanting a new product or to scope the demand for a product that is suggested?

Tighter controls on MM, maybe having to register a verifiable home address, receive a letter in the post then confirm the 'code' you are given to activate the account before being allowed to post as well as the 500+ post count.

The moderation to me is good, as are the sig sizes.

These are just silly. What is someone asks for a washing machince recommendation and the answers are Bosch or Miele? Or someone recommends a console and the replies are xbox, ps(x), wii, snes, nes, gba....

1. A PSU forum.

2. A forum where you can post crap and take the *** out of each other a bit. (ala sherdog's OT - bareknuckle)

My tupence worth

More avatars for higher poster going up after a 1000 then one for 3000,5000,8000,10000 etc

The MM needs sorting but i think thats obvious, and please dont loosen up on the rules its what makes this place the way it is :)

Also i do think that when a moderating decision is taken its explained why and made clear so other peole take heed, nowt worse than "whay was my thread/post deleted"

Oh and the SA, can we have the bodybuilders and bikers in their own forum? but i suppose thats just me being miserable but the ammount of creatine/two wheeled threads gets daft in there sometimes
