OcUK Forums Changes

Nothing needs changing.
This place is one of the most succesful Forums on the web & how strict it is goes a long way to maintaining the standards.
I would personally advice the Mods to delete more of the crap that is Not related to Systems, clocking etc & keep this place for Tech heads & gamers rather than a random bunch of teenagers stressing about what Cereal to eat or how to comb there hair properly.

I would like to see some Old faces back here though. The long term regular posting members are what makes this place what it is.
Having said that it works both ways. If they want to come back to add to the community then sweet, but if they want to keep challenging for the sake of it then **** 'em.

some kind of PM system that only works in MM (don't know if that is possible)

so people can post addresses and payment details to each other in threads (make it only viewable to sender and reciever) to stop scammers

lol shall I take it no one likes my election idea??? Since not one mention of it afterwards!

I thought it would make it really interesting...

It would polarise the community on yet another front and create an even larger e-war! Think of the children :(

More active mods in the lesser forums? Namely the Mac threads.

I'll do it if no one wants to :p

No way!

That would make it easier for scammers to sign up to the forums and not use a proper email address for MM communications.

What about a 'Thanks' button (like avforums) to show your appreciation of somebody helping you out?

And under the username it can say how many times the user has been thanked, and how many times that user has thanked. Probably down side is, that its open to abuse ..

oh i have got one :) stop censoring the word *** see i typed t e h, sometimes i type fsat and spell the with h at end and it gets censored soo it looks like i swore lol why is t e h even on a censor list lol

lol it's lol because people like to lol type in "leet" speak lol and it looks silly lol.

How could you abuse it, thank someone too much???? :p

Thinking about the sig size, and what someone else pointed out, is that most people will be on broadband, but a lot of people are on limited services, and 80 posts on a page could be 1.5MB, you could easily eat up your limit

Surely thats something that would need to be implemented by the forum software designers rather than OCUK (assuming its not already a feature of the software that isn't currently enabled)?

I agree that the logo could do with a facelift, but I understand that you don't change your company logo for the hell of it.

I agree, but had a quick (5 minute) go anyway, only updated a little rather than drastically changed.

Otherwise it's all been said really, a female avatar would be good, better security for the MM.

I've not been a forum member for all that long, but i'd like things to stay as they are. They're the best forums i've come across or submitted to.

The level of moderation is spot on, and keeps them work-safe for me. Ok, the epic boobs might be hard to justify to my boss, but he's a red blooded male same as me, so that might be my get-out.

Anyhow, I say keep it up, great forums, been a huge help to me.

Easy lad, I can see that upsetting the PC brigade!!! Too British I hear the cry!!!

I quite like that to be honest.

I'm not sure what's been said since I last left off this thread - but can we have a slight relaxation of bumping in the MM? I think threads should be allowed to be bumped for a 24hr price drop - and an item added.

Also if people (not the OP) want a querie, then sometimes trust emails aren't fast enough - perhaps allowing them to bump would be ok?

Hi.

A few things I'd like to see are:

Music to have it's own dedicated forum for everything from typical band stuff to user created (instrument/software) music.
I'd like to see Box Office, Film and TV taken out to it's own sub-forum.
I know this has been discussed before, but the amount of users/threads has grown a lot, enough I think to deserve their own areas.

A dedicated Spec Me A... sub-forum area for all things related to purchase/food/clothes and the like, allowing users to visually search threads without waiding through unrelated posts. This goes for PC related Spec Me's too.

I think a lot of the bad situations in any thread are because the user was heading there for a legitimate reason (even just to read a few posts), but got distracted/annoyed by the countless threads about BBC news, flash games, and just following the lead of a thread derailment they saw a few posts above. The separations I mention above I think may help the distracted/annoyed ;).

Other than that, tighter MM and we're all set.
Thanks.
