OcUK Forums Changes

Everyone over 1000 posts looks the same. Another level for 3000+ or 2 years would be good.

I would really like to see avatars done on both post count and on length of service to the forums with a choice:

1)There are some long standing members who have tiny post counts but it would be nice to give them an option to demonstrate this.
2)There are members who have been here for only a few months with more than 1000 posts and a good portion of this seems to be spam.
3)This links into my thought on Members Market

For MM -- Personally, I think it needs to be 6 months on the forums, 500+ posts and confirmed name, number and address.

Possibly having to do a OcUK real life shop transaction to achieve this and thus gain their MM status.

Just thought of one if it hasn't already been mentioned, but how about getting rid of these little guy '', I've seen arguments escalate over it, people seem to get more upset receiving one than anything that is posted.

Arguments will always happen, people will just start saying "rolleyes" rather than using the smiley...it won't make a difference.

Probably, but there's just something about seeing that image that makes people's blood boil. Reading the word 'rolleyes' isn't the same though, well not to me anyway.

 There ya go, how did that feel?

:p

People can still just upload the image to imageshack and post it. You would need to ban the use of it.
Then people would find similar "rolleyes" smilies, and post those.

Just not worth it.

Console forum split into
Sony and Microsoft Xbox and Nintendo forums

Too many threads dont state what console its about so you end up wading through them and theres a lot of them.
And it would end bickering in the forum because a lot of threads still turn into VS arguments
It would help a lot. Please, please can we have it? (yes this has probably been asked before)

please....:(

I Disagree, i would rarely venture into the others and sometimes i pleasently suprusied reading about a game that might be coming out on a platform i dont own. Plus ive seen this in other forums and it doesn't work that well.

My opinion of course :)

What he said :)
If there's a problem with fanboys bickering then there needs to be more self moderation by people, and possibly more moderation by the forum staff. At least until the fabled day where everyone is mature in their discussions :D

Fanboiism will never die, its been around for 25 years or so.

Just a small suggestion from me, not sure if somebody else has said it.

I'd really like to see a proper hobbies section. Personally im into Nitro RC cars, and i know there's a few people on here that are interested in them too. I also like reading about other peoples hobbies (no matter how odd they might be). There's a guy on another forum that i frequent, and his hobby is making Tesla Coils (big electric zappy things that would blow ya house up), although its not something i'd make myself, i still like reading about it. :D

I know GD could probably cover this area, but i think more hobbiests might come out of the woodwork if there was a dedicated section for it.

Just my opinion though. :)

This is the point though! Isnt the specific forum there for those interested in the topic? If they are mashed together then some PS or xbox stuff is missed i feel. With separate sub-forums for each if you want to find out latest ps info (games etc) then a quick glance in the ps forum will get you what you want. Instead of now having to trawl back multiple pages to find it.

Remember as well how important that becomes because Search function isnt working. As much as i love trawling through threads for me its a good thing if a reader is able to find what they are looking for quicker.

I'm sure i would be pleasantly surprised by some posts if graphics and sound city were merged into one. e.g. if i had only visited graphics before but afterwards if they were merged i'm sure that i would read something useful about sound cards etc but thats still not a case for merging them.

The main point is this:

If 1 forum is divided into 2 (or 3) it is easier to find and read things pertinent to your interest e.g. ps3 in the Sony forum

If 2 forums are merged into 1 then yep you may read something that you wouldnt have otherwise read but you will have to wade through some useless threads to find it.

Ive seen it work on another forums.

not gonna happen...ever...sorry

Hence why I stated straight after the half sentence you quoted, that more moderation by the forum staff was needed to cut down on bickering.

No, we've had the days of more moderators and moderation.
It was like having the Stasi on here.

The Forums are at the best they have ever been, which is why recent events and calls for certain members to be reinstated have left me baffled, as some of them were particularly unpleasant.
If those people have changed their attitudes then all well and good, seems to be a lot of Spie saying sorry to people who has no real reason to apologize too.

I'd hate to see the console section split. Especially as there isn't a problem with arguing about whats better anyway.

Its not like you have to read PS3 threads if you have an xbox. Occasionally I read a PS3 thread if I think it's of interest.

I dont see a real need to split it. No more than splitting motors to a BMW section and everything else ;)
