OcUK Forums - Upgrade imminent! :p

Mobile versions of the store would be good too. It isn't too bad browsing the forums on a smartphone, but it'd be a whole lot easier! Including moderating .

I like the forum in its current form and would like to see any update with the same kind of limits now. I'm sick of browsing forums seeing bull*** animated OTT smileys and having to scroll through half a page of self obsessed over colourful crap signatures.

What will GB size sigs, animated smileys and wide screen HD avatars of random **** actually bring to the forum?

I think those aspects should remain as they are, these forums are the identity of OcUK IMO and they have worked perfectly well for the last 10 years or so.

100% Agree.

To be honest I was only joking about the mobile support, It doesnt hurt me for it to exist. :)

I just dont want the site to go in the direction of some others, where because the features are there, they essentially open pandoras box and turn the site tacky.

Blogs? I saw mention of support for implementing blogs. Tack

I think if it offers more security, and more flexibility behind the scenes then great. As long as the user experience is kept as it is (i.e. same colour scheme, same ppp availability, no PMs, etc...) then it's likely to add value. A rep/thanks system would be nice, however, if it's a hack then definitely not. A mobile "theme" would be nice, so that you can have no pics/avatars/sigs enabled, rather than having to manually turn on and off sigs/avatars etc... I now just don't bother having them on at all because of that.

I like OCUK because the forums are simple to use and clear and uncluttered as well as fast. I don't really go elsewhere as I find the forums for too cumbersome and irritating.

Can we have a thread title change?

Overclockers UK Forums > Life > General Discussion > OcUK Forums - Upgrade imminent! :p > HAHA NO, SAYS EVERYONE WHO HAS ANY SAY IN THE MATTER

Thanks. This spergin' about 4.x or 5.whatever is just tedious.

You mean modern 3G broadband capable of up to 7-14 Mbps?

Except that the problem wouldn't be the speed it's the extra bandwidth requirement. You might be able to pull down a page at 7-14Mbps but if your contract has a quota of 500-1GB a month you really don't want to have to pull down pages at a few MB a time 'cos of people ****** sigs ...

Really should drop the sig debate altogether. My BF3 platoons forum has no rules on signatures and some people have 4 sigs which cover half the blooming board.

Fugly!

You can turn the viewing of sigs off. Although 20k is fine any way for the size they are, so no need for them to be bigger.

TBh, the issue of sig allowances and other blah features is irrelevant to the main issue - which is that the current version of vB OcUK is using is no longer supported. So the only issue is upgrading for security reasons.

Such an upgrade would not necessarily affect things like avatars/sigs/appearence/features (etc) in the slightest. The forum could be 'almost' identical on the newer versions, just with the added security.

I hate the mobile apps for forums, that tap talk prompt, the avforums is useless.

I dunno, maybe it's cause I have a largish screen but this forums layout is my fav, it's quick to load and no junk
