OCUK founder Spie passes away

I always wondered where the name Spie came from. Was it a corruption of Spy, or was it meant to mean something else?

I think it was meant to be spider, but the D and R keys on the keyboard were broken, so it came out as Spie, but gave him the idea to start a keyboard shop, which grew into OCUK

*please note, this is not the original reason, and is entirely ficticious. The Legend of Spie continues..
 
afaik it was his username in a mafia game that was popular at OcUK in early days, started as spieato (something to do with his Italian family heritage) or similar and then changed to Spie

Just logged in for the 1st time in a while and saw the news. I remember Spie from back when I joined these forums many years ago.
Very sorry for your loss.

Never knew him but he created a little bit of society that a lot use and come back to.

As someone who has been part of the OcUK forums / larger community for quite a while, though quieter as of late, I still recall some of the postings by Spie and I am deeply saddened by the passing of the OcUK founder; but Spie has achieved so much and this great legacy is all his own work. For that, we can all be very grateful. Spie will also be eternally grateful for your heartfelt tribute, NathWraith.
 
Very sorry to hear, lost my dad a few months ago unexpectedly also, so can totally relate to what your going though.

RIP :-(
