** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Just had an email from DPD, delivery Monday, great stuff! :D

Just want to say how fantastic the customer service and transparancy has been on this forum, its what made me pre-ordered from here rather than some of Oc UK's competitors.

Constant updates instead of the silence from other sites, fantastic stuff.

That the GLH? Mine comes tomorrow! Can't wait.

MSI 1070 Gaming X arrived and all backorders cleared. But no 1080 Gaming X on shipment, MSI are saying they have shipped and are with another courier, due to us any day now, so I suspect Monday now for those.

Thanks for letting us know. I switched from the EVGA FTW to the Gaming X yesterday but am quite relaxed about slight delays like this when at least you know the product exists and is en route.

haha so true. I find it amazing that people are not prepared to wait for the version they really want and buy whatever is available. I wonder how many will feel really silly in a few weeks from now ? :)

It's already apparent that silicon lottery is the main determinant of performance.

When customers preordered just as the AIB NDA was lifted on the 27th this was not yet apparent as there were no AIB reviews. Since then it has transpired that none of these cards are great overclockers and 2100mhz is about the realistic limit even for a good sample. But no-one knew that at the time.

Therefore what decision making boils down to is heat and noise, and it's apparent from reviews that the MSI Gaming X, which I switched to, is as good if not better than the EVGA FTW in this respect.

You're forgetting the look of the card, brand, rma process/warranty and cost.

Look - I have a Define R5 with no glass side panel; don't care. I find the idea that anyone would wait another month for a card that looks better frankly hilarious.

Cost - came down to £20 surcharge difference in actual cost, £10 different between prices on the day. Paying £20 extra isn't ideal but if it means I see the card in the next month then to me it's worth it.

Brand - don't care overly. Asus overcharge because of brand mind share (and get 1k Strix preorders from OCUK alone) when there are cheaper cards with far better coolers. Generally more overlooked brands such as Inno seem to be producing good products with this generation.

RMA Process / Warranty - that's one area where EVGA are supposed to be good in fairness so this was the biggest trade off. Don't hear too many Asus RMA horror stories for MSI but they may be out there...

If you shop around and also were savvy when it was released it was the cheapest decent card by far though.

This. At £60 less than a flounders card the G1 was the best card IMO. It has decent cooling and was one of the cheapest cards you could buy anyway.
