** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

The FTW board is not a standard board unlike the SC, the SC is exactly the same as the FE cards.

The FTW had 10+2 Phase Power (than can supply up 215W I think) with 2x8pin and an even bigger cooler than the SC (180W) which is 1x8pin.
This extra power may help with what some people has been describing as a power limit when both GPU and MEM over oc'd.

The overclockability MAY be a lot better on the FTW depending on the circumstances.

Both the ASUS Strix and the MSI Gaming X which have improved power delivery designs over the FE cards offer no better overclocking capability. Not because their power delivery system is weak, but because that's not the bottleneck that limits overclocking. It's the NVIDIA protections and Pascal architecture that limits voltage, and it seems to be across the board.

It seems hard mods are necessary to achieve any overclocking better than FE. There's still a slight hope that BIOS mods will be able to do the trick, but not likely.

Thats fine by me. I wont bother with overclocking as right now there is nothing I play that requires anything more than standard.

I only play on 1440p and have 2 1080p monitors as company so as long as it can handle that I'll be smashing noobs with a grin on my face :D:D

Yeah even at stock it can handle anything you can throw at it at 1440p. Overclocking this card is just for the fun of it, not performance :D

Agreed, but for the price difference of not much, I have chosen the non reference just in case there is a situation where the extra helps.

There will be a maximum overclock on the gpu itself which probably is about 2100 at a guess. However, i will have mine on a G10 Cooler so I am hoping there is more to be had.

This is the response I got for the SC:

Thankyou for your webnote, you are currently 34th on our pre-order list for this GPU Stephen, current ETA for this GPU is 10/06, this can change as it is an estimated date.

Thanks for that - good to know. I'm 43rd in the queue so guess I'm hoping I'll hit the first batch as well. Gutted it's not looking like being the 3rd though.
