** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Massive. I went from a 7970 to a pair of 290x to a 1080 and that last jump was very noticable so yours will be as well :)

Holy balls you weren't kidding, even just tottering about the OS and browsing the web is noticeably snappier. I'm going to give it a few quick benchmarks to make sure everything installed OK then see what this thing does to TW:WH :D

^This. Any potential upgrade options? I would have gone for the Inno3D X2 but that's now out of stock with (as far as I can tell from this thread) no eta for new ones yet. I'm at that inflection point now where I'm starting to think a second hand 980ti on water will do for now and I could save myself £645 (GPU+waterblock+backplate)...

grab a 980 Ti wait for 1080 Ti prices of 1080 go down grab one or pay not much more for a 1080 Ti compared to what you'll have to pay today for a good 1080, seeing as Titan X is £1099 the Titan is always around £300 more than the model below it so a Ti at sub £700 is possible that offers the same performance due to better model cards.

The main flaw I see in your argument is that they'll release a 1080ti at <£700 and drop the 1080 prices appropriately, why would they lower prices? There is absolutely no competition at this top-end and the 1080s are still selling fine at ~£650. I expect a 1080ti just in time for Christmas and I think it'll be ~£800 here in the UK. My thoughts atm are my pre-ordered 1080 at £525 is probably worth keeping but perhaps I don't bother with the waterblock and just swap out for a 1080ti when they're out. Just won a 980ti with waterblock on eBay for £320 though so maybe I'll just keep that and cancel the 1080 completely!
 too many options, I don't know what to do! Fyi I play on 1440@144Hz, and a few games on 7868x1440 (with bezel correction), so I do want/"need" the 1080 power.

imo I just think AMD need to pull their fingers out their *** why I can see what you mean based on the £650 1080 soon it'll stabilize and not as many people will be willing to pay the current asking price which will only lower the price down making the price point it once was open for a new card in this case the Ti it can go so many different ways we just need AMD to wake up

Its not a matter of them waking up, if the new chips aren't ready then theres not much they can do in the interim besides price cuts.

oh we will so long as this progress keeps going on. Each year the cards are 50% faster than the year before so shouldnt be too long before its a constant 60fps min at 4k. With the next die shrink and hbm2 it might be a big jump like the 8800 GTX was.

Of course by then everybody will be buying 5k and 8k screens...............;)

And even ignoring that people are wanting 100 fps now to go with their 144hz screens.

Well, I want to max out my 165hz 1440p screen - because why not!

Last time round we got the 980 in September and the Ti in June. The pricing was $550, $700, $1000 for the 980,Ti,Titan X

so we have $700(well $600 marketed) and $1200, so $850-$900 is likely for the Ti. Maybe $900 FE should be expected. Can they release a genuine consumer product at that price?

Your want is much different to your need. A 1080 will run everything a little faster @1440, but a decent 980Ti will do more than enough - although did you really mean 7868x1440? thats one very strange aspect ratio!

If you just won a 980ti, stick with that - not sure the Ti will be this year though.

I know and I'm considering it but it takes a brave man to void the warranty on a £1100 card.

I always felt bad taking a risk on a £400 card.

If there are no warranty stickers don't worry about it. No way they can tell if it's been stripped down.

IF there is then I personally won't be buying it. Have to ask owners I guess.

I'm considering buying two but I don't know. Do I really need the extra performance is what I keep asking myself. Won't be for a few weeks yet anyway so plenty of time to decide.

Well good news is there are no warranty stickers!!!!!!!!!!!

Your 1080 in sli must perform pretty well? Im thinking of keeping my second 1080 and sli them. Most games working well in sli now? Had amd for last 4 years so out of touch on sli.

Yeah they are pretty spot on. Having issues with very few games at the minute with SLI.

But you know 30%+ for games that don't support SLI is always welcome. Then the further increase for games that do.

Expensive but will be my first Titan. Very tempting if there are no warranty stickers.

Yep! That's Nvidia surround with 3x 2560x1440 with abit more in the horizontal added from bezel correction :D GTA V was amazing playing like that, almost everything else it's pointless though unfortunately.

Just chatting to a guy selling an unwanted 1080 FE for £525...that's tempting me quite a lot! I could even get it today & just cancel my 1080 blower pre-order & finally be at the top end...except for the Titan X that just came out to make my 1080 feel inadequate :(

Depends, sometimes the screws can be an indicator, that seems to be one of the reasons why so many cards have black screws as it doesn't take much for the black coating to start flaking off.

Nice, that was what I had guessed. You might need a bit more power to get that setup performing :)

The FE cards are great on water, given the current situation you will not get a faster setup without some modification.
