** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

I agree - I think OCUK have done a good job of keeping everyone informed and at least been honest with the people that have put down their hard earned beer tokens, unlike a lot of other retailers who have left their customers completely in the dark - as Pers suggested above

I think ill give it another week or two and then see if there has been any movement - just woulda been nice to stick with the Strix as I have a Maximus mobo on display in a Corsair air 540 but dont think I can justify and additional £100 quid for the OC's 'little brother'. Doesn't seem like there was any cards inbound whatsoever in the last month though...

Guess am just getting a bit impatient as my 290 is really struggling @ 1440p

I guess im lucky as i have 2 980s in SLI so i can afford to wait. Ive looked at some of OCUKs competitors and they are looking at getting stock between the 12th and 15th of August.

Do you know where you are in the queue for one?

Still have my preorder for the Strix OC elsewhere but am barely holding on...

Wont hold my breath but any news from Asus yet regarding these cards Gibbo?

Am close to giving up and getting a FTW or the Gaming Strix from here but am loathed to pay more for what is supposedly a lesser card (out of the box)

Main concern with the Gaming Strix being that - if they are exactly the same bar the stock clocks - surely Asus would be using the better binned chips in the OC model and likewise EVGA holding theirs back for the impending Classified?

Spoke with Asus today, more Advanced Gaming Strix are on the way. Regarding OC cards they are now finally admitting yield is very low, yeah we already new and had guessed this, but now at least they admit it.

They say end of next week they will have an update on OC, now an update from Asus tends to mean no more news, yes we have some and are going to ship you a small amount which will arrive with you in the next 1-3 weeks.

They are simply super slow at everything due to the magnitude of their company.

Ok thanks Gibbo. Again thanks for the honest and open approach to your customer feedback.

Looks like ill be in for another month of waiting as the last time i checked i was 17th in the queue. How long do you think the wait will be before you have to start throwing free stuff at me ;) ?

Legend - thanks again for the update Gibbo

Good to know that they are moving at least!

.

Oh thats a change. For two months they put it down to "unexpected demand" :p

That kinda makes sense. What res are you running it at? Uni is highly optimised for SLI so you will see great gains on it when using 2 cards.

The real test for your 1080 will be high resolutions in games that are not so great in SLI. Plus micro stuttering will become a thing of the past for you.

Personally id rather 5 fps less on a game that has no micro stuttering than 5fps more with the odd stutter here and there.

Only 1920 atm so i'm probably on overkill. I didn't know Uni was optimised for SLI so i feel a bit better with that info, cheers. Plus my 970's were on a mild overclock. 1080 is a lot quieter but runs 3 or 4 degrees warmer. I'm sure it'll perform great when i eventually get on a game later.

Going to stick with my Hybrid preorder. Titan XP runs too hot and loud. An overclocked watercooled 1080 won't be far off a stock Titan XP.

The noise was my biggest concern as well. I previously had a Strix 970 so I looked at comparisons vs. that - the Titan X is about 10db louder, which frankly I'm willing to live with rather than wait any longer, EVGA had their chance - and then there's always the option of putting it on water later on.

My brother had the Strix 970 and I had a Maxwell Titan X. The Titan will be significantly louder than your 970. 10db is absolutely massive. Be prepared.

I have a 4 year old with another on the way, my propensity for disliking noise has long gone...

Then I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm still young and have good hearing. :)

The performance jump will be insane either way.

I've no doubt the 1080 hybrid will be a solid card, it's only draw back had been this launch debacle.

I know you've said you'll be sticking with it, but just FYI (and in case you lose patience like I did) EVGA have said they're working on a hybrid kit for the Titan - likely a good few month away though.

To be exact, 10db is double the noise. It's a logarithmic scale.

That seems about right. Thresholds are really important too when it comes to hearing. For example my 980 TI ACX at 50% is comfortable to me. 60% is uncomfortable, but is needed to keep its boost clocks from throttling. So what amounts to only a 10% difference is enough for me to commit to a 3 month wait for a Hybrid 1080.

Right, it is now Monday the 8th of August...

Is there any news at all regarding the whereabouts of the EVGA 1080 Hybrid? This has been on preorder for almost 2 months now, and hearing little more than an "It's maybe coming soon" is getting ridiculous.

I am getting to the point that calling the police in regards to missing persons (Or missing components in this case), is almost actually sounding like a reasonable thing to do...

Please, Overclockers/EVGA (More so EVGA of course), this is a complete joke. What is happening with this card?
