** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

I suspect the Xtreme won't be much higher either. Perhaps I might cancel the order and go for a cheaper card instead.

Will the custom board manufacturers be able to produce a custom bios that bypasses whatever restrictions nvidia have put on the card? Will you pay more just in case you can unlock an extra couple hundred MHz in a few weeks/months?

Considering how cool the water cooled ones are, I am surprised at the limited overclocking.

I think 8Pack was hinting that we won't see higher clocks on cards. Only a few golden samples able to overclock better. It sounds as if there is a wall with the architecture of the chip and a custom BIOS won't be able to bypass this.

Doubful as previously mentioned 8pack said that there is a wall when it comes to the voltage as 1.25 seems to be the upper limit which aapears to be hardware level or driver or combination of both. So with that in consideration we might only see those magical cards that will go past 2.2 - 2.25 and stay there 24/7 for gaming.

Interesting. Will help me make my mind up for the SC or FTW 1070.

I have a feeling they'll be achieving the same OC (luck of the draw when it comes to the chip, as opposed to the card you get) and the slightly bigger fans won't have much effect. So the £30 is really only for the RGB..

Well the larger cooler might allow it to run more quietly at the same OC.

I thought the FTW cooler was the same as the SC though, just with a custom board?
