** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Much better is very questionable. If they all overclock to the same level then you're really just talking about how loud a card is to achieve that.

Well if anything it would overclock a bit better, also bigger cooler and bigger fans = lower temps and less noise. So overall for an extra 30 its alright, but if it was 50-100 more then I agree it is not worth it.

The FE seems to overclock similarly to all these custom boards and it seems like the voltage limits are holding things back. The much better coolers on both SC and FTW should be more than enough to prevent thermal throttling and therefore the same chip should overclock to basically the same level.

The only variation is if EVGA are binning the chips and the FTW is genuinely more capable of a higher overclock. But for such a small difference in price I doubt it - maybe they'd do that for the classified?

If you're paying almost £600 anyway, buying an inferior card for the sake of saving £30 seems silly to me, because I value silence and a larger cooler will provide something closer to that. But hey, who can say how it'll pay off. Maybe you get a golden sample SC that overclocks ridiculously well. Maybe you change your order and get a crappy FTW that doesn't.

I am to push my SC to 2000 MHZ after a few months. Then sell it for the Titan next year. £30 can go far if you know how to save or spend.

its all relative isn't it? Maybe the SC is already pushing your budget? For me, coming from a 970, I'm finding it difficult to justify >£600 when the 1070 is likely to be £350-ish - thats almost double the price. £550 or so and that gap feels a little more acceptable to me for the performance increase you get.

Doubful as previously mentioned 8pack said that there is a wall when it comes to the voltage as 1.25 seems to be the upper limit which aapears to be hardware level or driver or combination of both. So with that in consideration we might only see those magical cards that will go past 2.2 - 2.25 and stay there 24/7 for gaming.

Although Galax say they have hit 2.2 on air and 2.5 on LN2 so maybe? I think the real issue is past 2.2 you would need so much voltage it wouldn't be worth it

For the HB bridges, we should have the 1.5 and 2 slot bridges around 20th June in the UK I would hope in time for the FTW.

This was the schedule we were working towards last week.

Ben

Ben, thanks for the updates!

Do you know by chance when the big 3/4-slot HB bridge's are coming? That's of course the one I need.

It's a couple of pizza's or a curry.
The FTW will be quieter and have better resale value when you sell it for your Titan. No Brainer really.

Found out I'm 176th in the queue for an FTW, considering how late I ordered that's actually better than I thought.

Will hopefully be in the 3rd or 4th batch (beginning of July I'd imagine).

I think we will see 1080s hitting 2300mhz but only the Lightnings, Classified, Kingpins, Hof type cards.

Does anybody think the queue positions are legitimate? I have gone from 131st to 77th in a couple of days.

I managed to get a preorder in for the FTW elsewhere at £10 more (£589) than the SC price, with no money taken until dispatch so I win. No longer available to preorder at £589 AFAIK. Not as if the difference of £30 or so really makes us looks like saving gurus when we're wasting £500+ on a non essential product anyway.

Probably cancel it anyway as the difference will be minimal or less than 20% compared to my 980Ti which can do 1480MHz all day

Your pizzas are £15 then that's an indication of how You spend money. £30 could be a return holiday to barcalona for a day. It's all relevant to a persons income and budget
