** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Gigabyte G1 Gaming arrived and placed in my system and a quick test to find my max OC. Boosts to well over 1900Mhz without touching anything and so far, my stable clocks appear to be 2069Mhz with +250 on the mem. Possibly more but this was a quick down and dirty test with the Heaven bench and passed 3 runs at that but failed at 2100Mhz sadly. That is the luck of the chip of course but so far, I am pleasently surprised at how quiet it is compared to my Titan X. temps of 65c are the max I have seen and I can only hear the fans above my water pump slightly and it isn't intrusive unlike the Titan X. And also, the Titan X needed some 80+ fan speeds to keep 80C or under.

More benching and then putting my vid together, so will be back in a couple of hours for those interested in how an EVGA SC Titan X compares to this card.

let say 1700 units preordered thats over £1 million right there . Im thinking to swap to FE tho as my Vive is coming tomorrow and i got no graphic card .

Damn. Hundreds of thousands of pounds is sat in ocuks bank accounts accruing interest while they have a boat load of frustrated customers who don't even know when they're going to receive their cards.
This is why I never preorder from here. The rainforest only take money when they are ready to dispatch. Some people on here gave their money to ocuk almost 2 weeks ago.
Surely that is an argument against pre-ordering all together. At the end of the day the pre-order people will receive their cards before everyone else ordering from OCUK so the only problem is that people expected an unrealistic arrival date (Even if manufacturers set the date). Even I did expect an unrealistic stock date but I refuse to lay down the cash before getting a date set in concrete. Once again my opinion and it may be wrong :D

Don't (unless you will be going water cooled). Going from my experience with the Titan X cooler and this Gigabyte, it is night and day difference.

That depends on OCUK's arrangements with suppliers, if they choose to use a line of credit or not etc., what if they have ended up paying (if not all but at least some of the cost) to ensure they can make such large orders. I'm not saying that they have or haven't I have no knowledge of their business practices, but not everything is black and white. It isn't like they are sat there laughing and stroking a fat cat, counting all the interest they are making.

All businesses have a balance sheet to run and I don't think anyone should begrudge them taking pre-orders and money up front for something that is clearly in high demand.

They work hard with the suppliers and usually have the largest range and the highest stock levels. The customer service has always been great.

For those reasons I think I'd rather support this business than say the rainforest one.

I had a moment of panic thinking 'will this card fit in my case' (EVGA SC)

Digged out out the dimensions of my current gigabyte G1 970 compared to the EVGA SC 1080

970: L= 299 mm

1080: L= 266.7mm

damn the 970 is big!

Sony Vegas now rendering and I am pleased with how it has come out. Only 2 games added to this vid but I have a few more done and in fairness, it was pretty much the same story all the way through the other games I tested and the differences remained the same. Vid will take a few mins to render and then upload, so a much needed cup of tea (**** it, might even have a beer :D) and I will add it here when finished :)

Thanks for the support chaps

lord have mercy.... ha. I'll be using adobe CC suite.

Yer, I think it is time for me to leave Vegas behind and look for an alternative but I like what I know (if that makes sense) and it doesn't take that long to render as long as I don't go for double passes and super high bitrates.

Yeah depends on your settings I guess. I do a lot of after effects graphics so having the GPU dealing with that is important.

Anyway, looking forward to the video.
