** OcUK HAS 21 CUSTOM GTX 1080 MODELS READY FOR PRE-ORDER !! **

Yup, the Ti version was a bit later too but SO worth hanging on for tbh ;)

Yeah, put in a preorder for the Hybrid on Tuesday after you. Not happy with the 70c+ even the custom versions can get to on auto fan. I had a preorder for the EVGA 980Ti Hybrid too, but gave in when 500 odd MSI Gaming 980Tis were imminent. Gonna hold out this time.

It won't, probably what that guy did was simply shove fans to max

Not even close to it.

All 3 cards were at their stock fan curves. All 3 were recorded during gaming load.

Inno 38.5db, Strix 43db and G1 somewhere in between.

Temps 82C on Inno and 72 on strix something like that.

Strix at full speed is crazy loud :(

Now the oly question is how would strix sound if matched for temps Inno at 82C ... obviously the rpm would be lower so the db output but would it be quieter or similar to inno? I have strix on pre-order and I am not happy about what I see, but at the same time it is not apples to apples type of comparison because of the above.

I think you are not getting me.

Those cards were recorder at their gaming loads which for strix is nowhere near its max rpm.... and still it is 43db which is obnoxiously loud for modern high-end component.

Inno3d X4 test when it comes out will be a better comparison I feel - everything I can find points to their X3 being their quiet priority (at the risk of temperature) and the X4 being cooling. However, both have one of the highest base clock speeds compared to the FE

Different tests seem to give different results.

Only way to know for sure is when you get the card you've ordered and tested it yourself.

review of the Gigabyte G1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bPZjpBJeSU not much difference to the FE. Although is cooler and quieter.

So it looks different, it's cooler and quieter yet you don't see much difference.
Well, it is a 1080, there's only so much you can improve upon while still using the same chip and memories.

edit: sorry if I sounded too abrupt, it wasn't my intention.

Will it be limited to 2100mhz as well like all the other cards.:p

Sure that doesn't bother me, I bought for below

Not overclocking
Want high boost clock
Bigger cooler for better temps
Quieter due to above
Warranty with those clocks

Tempted to buy a 2nd hurry up classy!

Can you provide a link to the X4 tests please?

Judging by the place in the conversation and the reference to max fan / 82 deg temp, I think he was referring to the test mentioned earlier of Inno3d X3 Vs other cards (i appologise if wrong). That's why I mentioned the X4 test being a better comparison "when it comes out"

Seems to be that all the cards offer the same performance and the only difference is how quiet and how cool the cards are.

With that said convince me why I should stick to my Xtreme preorder and not jump to the next card in stock. Also do we have an ETA for the Xtreme and when the clocks will get announced?

I asked a question to KitGuru on their Strix review, during gaming the RPM of the fans was ~1600rpm, if I recall the max RPM of the Inno3D fans is 1400rpm, so noise between the 2 should be broadly similar but with much more cooling headroom on the strix (at the expense of increased noise).

Yeah I think he's a bit wrong too. My Google-Fu is strong yet I find nothing.
Going off Inno3d's literature the X4 is geared more towards lower temps at the cost of loudness while the X3 is geared towards lower noise at the cost of higher temps.

If you look at the temps for previous versions of the ichill X4 cards they are extremely cool.
