OcUK Jonathon Palmer Day - Drive an M3 GTP, Clio CUP, 911, Caterham 7 and more...

I'll let you know in a week once this cheque has cleared. I think this is one thing in my life I must experience, why not now? It's a 3.5 hour drive for me. 3.30am set off haha. Almost as bad as my trip to Goodwood (there and back in a day + was there from 7-5!)

I'd seriously consider booking a guest house some where more local. It's quite a full on exhausting day.

We went down the day before and had a good meal and a good sleep, Do the day then out on the lash for a few and a curry to talk about the days events, Then back home on the 3rd day.

Good call that! Why I always overlook the simplest of logic I will never know! haha. Cheers.

Fighting talk! :D

Might as well get it going early, at least this event allows you to push yourself and the car to the max rather than the relative restraint when on a Trackday in your P.A.J.

Shame its not a more accessible price, would have loved to have done something like this.

It's a lot, an awful lot, but you get ......an awful lot for your pennies, Just consider how much tuition in your own car would cost, especially if you're not sharing with someone (£400-£500 at a guess for 1/2 day), then factor in the running costs, maintenance and fuel. Here you get everything with truly track prepped cars, a wide variety to chose from, first rate tuition, guaranteed track time, a great circuit, food, and damage waiver.

Depends on where people are, we could do Bedford, it isn't as bad as Traffic Cops made out this last series. I can honestly say I have never heard of the gangland wars and can confirm a man walking down the High Street with a Chainsaw and bottle of Rum is not a usual occurance. I've lived there for most my 26yrs!

Its relatively cheap compared to a trackday

Yep,

You get about 6 laps in each car from memory, Then the Go-karts, The Caterham pursuit (Gibbo and Ad here's looking at you guys :P) The off roading. You get breakfast and lunch (good grub)

Teams leaders are normally pretty women, When not in the car tea and coffee are on hand. You are track side in a suite watching the action, or some sports on TV if you like.

When all is considered compared to other packages it's well worth the money.. You just have to be willing to take the plunge.

It's very tempting with the discount but I don't think i've got the experience under my belt to really make the most of a day like this just yet, it's something I think i'd be better served doing in a couple of years time.

If it was more like £350-400 I wouldn't be so worried but £700 is a bit much for me to take the plunge at this point in time!

As great as that sounds, it still seems very expensive, to me at least. I would love to, but couldn't justify spending that amount.

Hope whoever goes has a fantastic time!

Bah notice schmotish, there's another pay day in between and there's always credit cards.

Get some use of that plastic and enjoy yourselves, you'll only end up spending it on rbbish at christmas otherwise.

You're tempting me to buy something i can't afford

Naughty Admin ! :D

Thats the whole point, you learn and gain the experience from professionals in a variety of cars. :)

But yes its expensive, but certainly not overpriced. :)

Think its about 6 laps yes in the M3, Clio, 911, Westfield etc.

But the Jaguar race cars works out at around 12-16 laps depending on how fast your lapping, I remember in the single seater clocking up around 14 laps or so I think. :)

Its a full on day event, no boring bits. :)

Did I actually do that many laps in the Jags, I lost count, Was 110% concentrating on getting the fast coming corner right :D

If this one goes well and you end up doing it again next year I will try my best to make that one.

I understand that, but having never really driven anything more potent than this Golf in anger, I just don't feel i'd make the most of it compared to doing it in a couple of years when i've had more opportunity to drive stuff with power, rwd etc. and have pushed them a bit.

How much does a track day cost you when you factor in fuel, wear and tear ontop of the circuit hire though?

Most powerful car I'd driven in anger my first time was a gen 5 celica.

I was top half of the times in everything and 4th in the Caterhams, The next time I was fastest in them.

Seriously if you can afford it Kenai, Don't worry about what car you have experience with it's about getting experience with these cars on track. :)
