OCuK L4D2 server rant.

I've been kicked several times.

No reason other then joining it seems, games that have just started, or midway through

On a random selection of OCuK servers.

My in game name is [OCuK]iTummy.

Really Really dissapointing / annoying.

Happened to me too.

They initiate a kick vote immediately and before I've said "Hi" I'm booted.....

This was an OCUK server that was just starting the parish (i.e first boat pulling away). Nothing was said to me, just a kickvote and ......... /sound of me being kicked.

As for the OcUK tags, I've worn my clan tags [tbZ] for 10 years. Why the hell should I have to change it so I can play with people in a steam group (OcUK L4D etc) which I belong to???

You don't have to. I part-own most of the servers with Link and I don't use the OcUK tag..and never plan to.

Yeah... chances are that was a public game... if not, the chances are also that they thought you were a public and you'd just ninja'd someones spot who crashed during loading or something.

Seriously people... OcUK runs PUBLIC servers and even the PRIVATE servers can be joined by PUBLIC players if they have the IP. Unless you actually recognise people on the server... why even comment on being kicked?

I only mentioned it to back up Tummy's complaint of being kick voted off a server for no reason. Others here were claiming it never happens....

no they claimed an admin wouldn't kick with no reason.

votekick happens all the time in public games.

And in private games, if you ninja a spot and refuse to leave.

Yeah think you mis-understood. I don't know all the admins but i very much doubt any of them would abuse there position, especially when said person clearly visits the OcUK forums and could report them.

Well except Tefal who recently found the /Slay @AIM command so he can slay Steve by pointing at him as he closes in with a special infected :p

Is it me or is this thread going in circles? I've heard the same things said a few times now, I would hope people understand how it works now :)

Agreed, lets reserve the remainder of the thread to people posting evidence of being kicked/or being the victim of admin abuse rather than an infinite loop of "WTF I was also kicked from an OcUK L4D/2 server" + "Public Servers blah blah.."

If steve posts any abuse of him was fully justified! ¬_¬

... i'm starting to think your just trolling.

Now now, Tummy isn't trolling :)

Along with the other admins, the only time I've used kick is when a player has left and can't rejoin the server (so I kick their 'ghost) and maybe in a 8v8 when someone is afk for ages

Do you get voted off?

If someone had a 'spot' or has a pre arranged 'spot' then the person who took the spot always drops, out of decency. I've never had to kick anyone for spot stealing, or indeed vote them off

We've all jumped in someone's grave then been asked kindly to leave, just the way she goes

Please also let me re-iterate that OcUK 4 (the 2nd Link to Insanity Server) +5 (LinkTart) are public servers, so they have randoms on them. Thios is so that we can keep an eye on the servers and see if any problems arise, quicker then if all the servers were private, as someone is on those most of the time, instead of just evenings and weekends.

Also acts as free advertising for ocuk, who kindly allow us to use their name etc for the community and have given us this forum.

With regards to tags I haven't used mine for months, but them most l4d players should know who I am by now, even if they've never played the game with me. :p It's not something that anyone is forced to do, just allows people to identify one another easier. You won't automaticly be kicked for not wearing the tags, just makes it easier as said. :)

for people on the stealing a spot issue.

THink of it like this, you get a ticket to a match and a reserved seat with a bunch of your mates, then while you're there you nip to the bog and someone has decided to sit in your seat in the middle of your mates and says he isn't moving and that you can take his seat on the other side of the stadium.

Wouldn't you be a mite annoyed.
