It was nice of them to add an extra 100m to the top of Box Hill for your second pass.

As for beers; RP, Kingston and Esher are as close as I'll get to London on a weekend. If I ride back into Clapham then I've got 15 miles home after that.

Yeah, we stopped for a coffee after the second rep. My 800 always seems to mess up the elevation after a stop, not sure why.
G!RO does beers and good food, we could/should stop there.

As above, would be good for the people not London to make sure it covers good roads, as no point coming up for a 50 mile flat ride except big ring box hill.

I only rode up box hill once.. with my triban 3, in big ring because it wouldn't switch down lol.

Tbh box hill is a big ring hill, not steep enough not to be.

I'm up for it, just need a bit of warning for getting out of work.

I'd probably be up for joining up, although would have to depend on if I could get the train up to get to RP.

I'll have to get the train as well, perhaps travel up together?

we need to find a nice base, mental amounts of climbing is all nice and dandy and crazy mileage is all cool too.. but lets find a nice fun base line where we can all enjoy and not die? ;)

You will have no issues at all. Most of the rides I go out on include fat blokes on expensive bikes so you won't have a problem.

Remember that the climbs are pretty short (Box Hill is the longest by some distance) and so it's nothing to worry about.

Guess any route would be good to have a bail out point just in case for the softer of the Southern folks :D

Those 2 weekends coukd work for me too! Altho 11th will be a year since I done the tour ride where I experienced possibly the most hateful day of riding ever! Second weekend would be best.

17th May I might drop in for maybe 30 miles or so and definitely include the cake stop :D

What's Box Hill like on the downhill bit? Will probably be riding fixed gear so getting up will be fine but too steep/fast downhill isn't so much fun.
