OcUK Minecraft Server - Rules & Chat

Tefal, got safer regular travel sorted for the nether. When you return you will be in a safe fenced pit above, no more mobs, it has no exit so /home to get back down. A safe drop to water to the inside would be good addition here. In the nether the room has been expanded quite a bit with a bridge to land also built. When you land in the nether you will be on top of the building, move quickly down the enclosed staircase. Need to see what modifications can be done to the roof to make it a touch safer, picture posted a couple of pages back.
 
Can someone explain how to use the new patcher? It seems to force me to upgrade to 1.3 regardless of what is set in the options panel.

And which version are we running on the server anyway?
 
I didn't use a patcher. I just downloaded AOD's file he uploaded and replaced my current minecraft.jar file with his. Don't touch anything else.
 
There is a sort of game breaking element, which is open to abuse. Suspect most of you know about it. I've had a nightmare getting my server running with vanilla 1.3. I wanted to stick to 1.2 but everyone went and downloaded 1.3 asap lol.

Its great to see Betterlight integrated into the game though as well as the new world file structure, which no longer consists of a billion files.

Oh and, reckon we could get the same version / settings of minecart mania as we had on the old server?
the carts are different: Clicking on a cart while driving changes direction (ok this is pretty good)
The carts sometimes refuse to go up a hill and instead change direction.
They seems a little slower (even with throttle at 200)

I'm hoping Windle will be able to look into this over the weekend. I've tried a few tweaks but haven't managed to get things working nicely.
 
Awesome, started minecraft on the works pc this morning, it updated and now I can't do anything as it just crashes to desktop and the mojang splash screen :(

Hows the server holding out with the world atm? I was just on for about 10mins last night.

There were a few issues last night with lag which I think may have been caused by the frequency of world saves and full backups. As such, I've changed the world save frequency to 20 minutes (instead of the previous 10) and the full backup only runs once per day, at 4am. The full backup takes up to 20 mins to process and really puts strain on the server so I think having it moved to non-peak time will help a lot.

Aside from that, it seems to be holding up okay. I think people like the chest protection mod :p

Today I'm trying to update the whitelisting process so that admin/moderator approval is required for new accounts.

edit: Bukkit has initial support for MC 1.3. I won't be updating the server until it has been tested more though.

Aww! chest protection : ( I was just gonna set up a security firm with secure coded vaults and trap system for sale, like mine back at my house... : P
Gonna get a request for Danio to be added to the whitelist, a m8 of mine! he's been playing a long time and is totally safe.

Thought it best to wait for a response rather than refer to the LT site!

I'm pretty sure that the vouching matches up with the rules in the OP so feel free to regsiter on LinkTart and then add yourself to the whitelist.
