well, at the risk of back tracking on what ive said before, yes it IS a beta BUT...... its been in alpha and then beta for some 6 months now. yes beta is an excuse for not supporting features, having slightly buggy/limited features ect. But, imo, using that as an excuse for the problems with the login servers, and as an excuse for the lack of server-side support without resorting to 3rd party plugins is seriously wearing a little thin with me.

it should not be taking them weeks to sort the login problems out and tbh its about time they pulled they fingers out and sorted it.

It is stating the obvious, but the statement is correct.

So yes it is still in beta and yes it does indeed currently have a problem with the server authentication system that does need some time and perhaps money spending on some architecture for redundancy (if that is indeed the problem).
I personally am not expecting them to achieve a fully working system overnight as they have a lot to do and a lot of other things to do with the company, but sorting it does need.

As a heads up for anyone who doesn't know.
It is about an 8 man team and they are all trying to not only develop minecraft, but also start and (maybe sell to potential shareholders) an indie games company (Mojang) at the moment. God knows who they are having offers from, but I know Notch has been speaking to Valve recently.
