Surely MC isn't that unstable, must be a plugin. FT restarted it yet? If not I'll take a quite look.

Found your signup, 10 hours ago with name 'tom', however you need to join the 'Minecraft' group then the following steps have to be completed:

Step 3. Navigate to Groups -> Minecraft -> Minecraft Server -> Register

Step 4. Enter your Minecraft username (case-sensitive) and await Admin approval

Minecraft isnt that unstable, but either a plugin update or bukkit update in the last week has made it like this.

I notice MC.net has a new update version released today

I've just checked again and the only thing I didn't actually do is join the group. Just joined it though. Did everything else and it still says this

Username: denic

You can only set your username once. If you want to change it after this you must contact an admin.

Usernames are case-sensitive.

That explains it, was really beginning to wonder what was happening as he said he had entered his mc username. Perhaps the OP could be clarified a little further as it does not explicitly tell people to 'join' the Minecraft group, even if the next step it to navigate through it.

OK, first thing on FT's todolist should be - more people access to the restart ability.

This happens all the time at busy periods. Being down for over an hour on saturday evening is quite annoying for all of us wanting to play. Having 2 people with the ability to restart it isn't enough imo.
